Here is some good news! The reallocated team figure skating medals from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics were finally handed out in Paris on Wednesday at the end of a lengthy doping saga. Skaters from the United States and Japan were given their medals after Russia were dropped from gold to bronze following Kamila Valieva's four-year ban for doping. Actually, I forgot that both & appeared as a Unified German Team 1956-1964 , so these medals must count. It was only in Grenoble 1968 that appeared in its own name.

Oh, sure in terms of international law but in sporting terms it just can't work like that. In the early Olympics you had the Russian Empire [Three medals total]. In the 20s & 30s there were three Baltic Republics. From 1952-1992 there was the USSR / Commonwealth of Independent States. After 1992 Russia inherited the Tsar's medals, but otherwise started anew, along with the other 11 SSRs except the three Baltic Republics who already had Olympic records.

Ah, OK fair enough, thought it would be absurd if they were counting results that were as three German medals.

Might be counting the boxing bronze, which strictly speaking is not official yet.

How are you defining “Russia” and “Germany” in this context? CCCP was not Russia & are you counting both & as Germany?
