  1. Or similar, weekly virus update wasn’t it?
  2. It's easy to read between the lines. If the BBC says a white person did XXXYYY, then that is clear. If the BBC says a "youth" or a "community leader" or some equivalent phrase, then that too is equally clear. Also "Woman accused of rape" always means only one thing.
  3. It's an idiot operative failure, frankly. When I was at the University we NEVER rolled out our weekly batch of MS security etc updates on Day 1 without testing them first in controlled environments. Just for this reason. Guess airlines don't think their business is important enough to take the same precautions
  4. Maybe the logic is Live FTA on an intentionally crippled service - fulfils a sponsor’s agreement. Replays later chopped into individual events on YT - maximises ad revenue.
  5. Preview for London tomorrow afternoon. Global stars head to London for final pre-Olympic tune-up | PREVIEW | World Athletics Also, those of you who can get BBC1 can see a bit of the early action - although of course it will be mostly blethering - starting at 13:15 UK Time before the official World Feed start at 14:00 UK Time.
  6. I think it's intentionally crippled for some obscure copyright reason. It also cannot be cast - only a direct HDMI feed from PC to TV works - which I've only ever seen before with Sky TV function.
  7. It’s good & bad. You can’t rewind or pause a live stream. Streams go up onto the website as soon as they finish. Also to for a big crowd turnout on an all-heats day.
  8. No, I think they have rights for a certain time….three months or something. That’s the way it has been in the past. Then the copyright reverts to the IOC.
  9. Ads every 5 minutes on YT? No thank you.
  10. Looks like this is also being broadcast on the European Athletics channel on YouTube, which is usually easier to use that Eurovision Sport. Except for goddamned adverts.
  11. Anyone foresee the French going on strike for the Opening Ceremony? Oh, yeah, everyone. Olympics opening ceremony faces turmoil as performing artists issue strike threat (msn.com) Back to 1948 Military Band Athletes' Parade Speech by Thomas Bacholympicchampionfencing1976 Everyone home to bed.
  12. Just check your subscription plan on the PC. Here in it tells me that there are three levels and that I am on Standard. Don't know what it will be like with you. Basic - Just the Discovery documentary channel Standard - Discovery doc channels, plus Eurosport and all WBD sports, ie tennis, cycling etc including the Olympics Premium - All that plus stupid boring English & European football, baseball, club rugby NBA etc.
  13. And kayak cross is only a seeding race, isn’t it - not an actual qualifier?
  14. Discovery Plus also has a similar upgrade, with the first week’s action scheduled. Big thing missing seems to be that you can’t set your own favourites/playlist, you have to negotiate the whole list every time.
  15. People always say "I'll be concentrating on stage wins" after they've had a setback in the first few days of a Grand Tour, but Carapaz is the only guy that actually ever gets those wins.
  16. Billed as a breakaway day, but here is Pogačar off again with 5km to go. Vingegaard not able to react.
  17. Communists working hard to turn back into . https://www.zerohedge.com/political/german-govt-launches-massive-crackdown-right-wing-press-freedom
  18. And then challenge the national football team to a singing match.
  19. That’s how it’s been done before: ES does the aggregation of the Overall Gymnastics, Overall Athletics, Best of Badminton etc, and the streaming does the detail of the Parallel Bars, the Long Jump etc.
  20. But doesn't Max give you access to the ES streams?
  21. Not sure.... but for Day -2 Wednesday 24th, there is indeed a single file for each Rugby Sevens match as you say, but there is also a single broadcast from 14:20 to 21:00 that shows every single match in the session.
  22. Got the Discovery Plus schedule for Day 1 - Saturday 27th. Looks very good. We get separate streams for Each badminton court Each tennis court Each individual gymnastic apparatus Each fencing....errm...whatever you call the places where you do fencing. Don't know if they all get their own commentary though, or if there's just a finite number of show courts.
  23. No, it was seen as a soft touch, Because people were persistently recording results at altitude that they never reproduced at the big competition.
  24. Caught up with more orienteering from Sunday, this time on a more conventional fields and forests course. Have not watched any since I was literally at School, but it was great! How annoying though that a Proper Sport like this is not in the Olympics but a dumbass one like Breaking is there instead.
