    Interesting stat here. Of all the people who went into a repechage, in all events, only two actually made a final - Marques in the Women’s 1500m & the cheat Crittenden in the hurdles.

    Wow, TV coverage of some events in the Olympics has been pretty bad, but coverage of the First Laser Run today was uniquely terrible. For some reason they showed almost nothing of the front of the race, but instead concentrated exclusively on Csaba Bohm. And of course, no indication of who was passing the finishing line.

    If I were coach I’d be betting my athletes to NEVER do that just for that reason. Terrible habit to get into. Also: heptathletes badly need to work on their post-throw bellowing & hollering. Everyone knows it adds those crucial last few centimetres to the distance.
