    qualifying is a really pleasant surprise, both in the broader context but especially after the terrible performance against yesterday. Third Olympics in a row for the team is quite special.

    Honestly I think the IOC should ban the kind of selection policies have entirely. Sure if those NOCs want the athletes to self fund the trip that’s fine, but the IOC should insist that the best qualified athletes attend.

    I really don’t mind that Canada lost, but the way they lost… no fight. It’s frustrating.

    Not every year, didn’t watch much sports in 2021, 2022 and the first half of 2023 for “NearPup’s personal life wasn’t going well” reasons, but I did watch VNL (and World League) before that.

    Thinking more positively - if Canada wins in 3 or 4 sets against I believe they are qualified regardless of any other results. Is that accurate?

    It’s not *that* hard to beat Biles on UB, you sort of have to in order to content for a medal :P

    Correct. It's really the only part of this qualification system that I dislike tbh.

    Had qualification for the team all around been based entirely off this year's worlds, Canada would have been the last team to qualify for the Olympics.

    They definitively went with a very young team. I don't think we can read too much into this result, especially since the stakes were relatively small for this Canadian team.

    The men's team qualifies for the Olympics and the team final (!) with a full subdivision to go. Felix Dolci is currently in fifth place in the men's floor and is likely to qualify for the apparatus final.

    Ya, didn’t think it was possible for to overtake , but Felix Dolci decided to have a great routine.

    Really proud of this Canadian team, I don’t think they could have done much more. First time since 2008 that Canada will send a men’s team, and first time since 2004 that will send a full team.

    qualify a men’s team to the Olympics after subdivision 5. are qualified for the team final.

    makes the League of Legends final after a 2-0 win over ! They will be the heavy favorite to win gold, which would grant a career-extending exemption from military service to the legendary Faker.
