Best surfing venue in France, and one of the most important surging venue anywhere in the world. Also wrong season for Biarritz. They could definitively hold surfing in Biarritz, but the opportunity to hold Olympic surfing in Tahiti is just too good to pass up. Athletes and surfing fans seem very excited about it.

Golfers have long complained about the Olympic format being too much like every other random PGA event. Adding a team element and/or matchplay would be really popular among the athletes and would make the Olympics more attractive to golf fans. Match play is also way more interesting for people who aren't inherently golf fans. If I had it my way you'd have a men's, women's and mixed matchplay event with two person teams.

Please, god, no. As a former fencer I have an urge to stab anyone who proposes a mixed weapon event. Fencing is blessed with a great team format, lets not mess with it. Especially now that we finally, at long last, got the full complement of team events in the Olympics.

Very ambivalent about that one. Flatland reminds me a lot of acroski (ski ballet). Sort of there for the mixed team time trial relay, though. I think it's a dumb format, but I'm desperate for any form of team time trial to be brought back.

According to ITG's blog post we don't know what boxing, climbing, fencing, golf, skateboarding, surfing or weightlifting are up to. The math still doesn't work out but it gets a lot closer. Actually we know for a fact that climbing did request and will obtain two additional events. But yes, the lack of transparency is a huge problem. You have ridiculous situations where athletes and national federations don't even know what events are being proposed in their own sports (see: monobob for Beijing 2022).

I would be more okay with canoe extreme is it involved canoes or was extreme. (Note: in North American English the word canoe can't be used to refer to a kayak)

If the FIG is so desperate to add new events just propose tumbling...

That makes a lot more sense xD Good for him, this is a good career move, especially with the Olympics in Milan coming up around when he'll be in his prime.
