Honestly the people that don't get just how fraught and nuanced the situation is annoy me. Defining gender for sporting purposes is legitimately difficult, and gender more generally is messy at the edges.

To me winning this gold medal would be the greatest moment in the history of Canada at the Olympics, even higher than the hockey golds in 2002 and 2010. I'd only rank the Summit Series higher because of the political context and because there isn't a ton of built up animosity between the Canadian and Australian or Swedish teams. I had a gold medal in a team sport as my biggest dream before these Olympics, and it feels so close now.
