United States are the favourites in both medley relays. 

Huge day today for Ireland. Rhys McClenaghan’s pommel gold means we have won a medal for a 6th day in a row!! But much more importantly, this is now officially Ireland’s best ever Olympic Games!!
Paris is giving us such special memories that we will never forget

Day 8 Update
 
Right now, at the end of Day 8, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France:
 14 gold medals (-2 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 16 gold medals (-5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 12 gold medals (+8 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 
This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:
 USA - 37 gold medals
 China - 33 gold medals
 France - 18 gold medals
 
Insane day for the US with 5 gold medals (18 overall) !

Well, from now on, 's medal rate will unfortunately drop significantly.  
Our real opportunities of gold medals are now inferior than 10 I think (Léon Marchand no longer has an individual race ). We lost too many gold medals in Judo and Fencing (only two last hopes for tomorrow).
But we will be happy to beat our record for medals in the Olympic modern era, and I hope that our athletes will exceed 50 medals at least. 
In any case, this first week was incredible and full of emotions. 

Day 7 Update
 
Right now, at the end of Day 7, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France:
 9 gold medals (-5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 13 gold medals (-6 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 11 gold medals (+8 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 
This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:
 USA - 34 gold medals
 China - 32 gold medals
 France - 18 gold medals

Day 6 Update
 
Right now, at the end of Day 6, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France:
 9 gold medals (-5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 11 gold medals (-4 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 8 gold medals (+5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 
This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:

The United States made a remarkable comeback today with 4 gold medals, moving up from 7th to 2nd place.

Bob Bowman coached both Marchand and Phelps. Marchand and Phelps both won 4 gold medals 🥇 in a single olympics

If anyone interested Tamara Potocká has been released from the hospital and is back recovering in her room in the Olympic village. She even send a video in which she thanked for all the messages of support

Marchand was SOOOO CLOSE to world record 

2nd gold for Australia in a few minutes!

USA is the obvious choice. Australia has 1 very strong chance left (Kaylee 200 back), 1 solid chance (McEvoy 50 free), 1 toss up (Kaylee 200IM) and a few outside chances (Mixed medley, Titmus 800, Temple??).
 
USA has probably 8 solid chances left with 3 of them being heavy favourites. 
 
So while Australia is possible it will basically take a miracle. We need to convert every single chance and hope USA gets upset in a heavy favourite 

Dont forget US has a lot of silvers in Athletics in Tokyo. They will easily get 12 gold (+5) than the last games.

Fun fact, a small town in Italy, Roncadelle (9.000 inhabitants) won in 15 minutes two golden medal.

 5 gold medals (-6 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 9 gold medals (-3 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 8 gold medals (+5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)
 
This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:
 China - 35 gold medals
 USA - 33 gold medals
 France - 15 gold medals

I replaced the Tokyo gold medals with Paris gold medals up to Day 5, while keeping all the Tokyo gold medals for future events.
 
This is what the final ranking would look if all remaining events would have the same gold medalists as Tokyo. (Obviously Russia will lose all of those)

For  China the difference is that in Tokyo, weightlifting was at the start of the program, while now it's at the end. That at least 4 certain Golds there.
 
The  US on the other hand are indeed underperforming in swimming (and in some other sports i would reckon) when it comes to Golds. On the other hand, their athletics team is much stronger now, than in Tokyo, so the falling behind in swimming can be compensated in athletics. It will come down on how will they do in the smaller sports and if they can get some surprise winners.
 
For  France i'm still saying it's 20+ golds.
