Timezone's Achievements

  1. UK does have economy two times bigger then Australia so can definitely afford to add more swimming pools. Remember 33 golds in swimming compared to 12 in track cycling. Also you don't need 50m pools everywhere just need 25m ones for young kids to train in and if they develop they can transition to 50m pool as part of high performance team.
  2. GB has almost triple population of Australia if the government can invest in some pools may be costly short term but will be the start of a swimming renaissance.
  3. Swimming should be where most of resources are put towards offers 30 plus medals also unlike athletics where fast twitch fibres are that important. If Australia can win 7 golds medals no reason why Team GB cannot.
  4. GB biggest issue is that don't dominate a sport we can rely 4-5 golds per cycle. USA have athletics and swimming, China table tennis, Japan wrestling Australia swimming. Should have one sport offers plenty of medals concentrate on.
  5. Can't see lacrosse or flag football in Brisbane. Think soccer needs to be removed on men's side only sport where best athletes don't compete.
  6. Lived in Australia for 20 plus years baseball is minor sport. Rugby league is a cult in Queensland. There is b as basketball and 3x3 basketball, judo and taekwondo, volleyball and beach volleyball so don't think that be issue. Flag football and lacrosse baseball softball will be going in all likelihood.
  7. Highly doubt baseball /softball is in Brisbane Olympics its just so minor Lawn bowls netball more of a chance. I think Rugby-league 9s is a very likely due to is being biggest sport in Queensland (city which Brisbane is in).
  8. Fox sisters sweeping Canoe Slalom. Raygun Algerian gymnast who wasn't allowed to train in her town in France caused her switch allegiance to Algeria where she won gold.
  9. Kate Douglass won 200m breaststroke as WR holder and women's with fastest times this year was banned as she os Russian.
  10. Australia 9/10 Great games frustrating end with getting 4 golds in one day then 6 straight silvers to finish games. Highlights Cam Mcevoy 50m freestyle gold after choking in Rio he developed a new method of training which relied less on swimming in pool more in the gym, won first medal in his 4th Olympics Keegan Palmer at just 21 successfully defended his Olympic title. Saya Sakakibara BMX racing being knocked unconscious in Tokyo then see her brother who got her into sport suffer sever head injury, she really questioned competing and decided to ride in his honour and win gold. Noemie Fox stepping from her sister shadow (Jessica who won two gold in Paris) and winning gold for herself in kayak cross. - Jessica Hull winning first track medal in 12 years -Nina Kennedy winning first gold medal in field event women (pole vault) Biggest Surprise -Lauren Jackson winning medals 24 years apart. -Grace Brown dominating women's time trial. -Kaylee Mckeown defending 100/200m backstroke golds and becoming women's backstroke GOAT. -winning record 18 gold medals - sweeping Park skateboarding men's women's with Arisa Trew youngest gold medallist (14 years) -Fox sisters sweeping women canoe slalom events -winning gold in men's tennis doubles -breaking WR in men's team pursuit track cycling -women's water polo winning silver Biggest Disappointments -Women's soccer have gotten plenty of hype as of late and didn't make group stage -Women's rugby 7's playing wonderful last tournament being up 14-0 in semi final to not medalling all. -Breaking Olympic record in semi of K4 500m and just loose in final to Germany. -surrendered huge lead to Serbia in basketball. -Raygun she tried her best but wasn't near Olympic standard. Was our country goal achieved? Top 4 finish and record gold i guess so. Future I guess most sports will get more funding with Olympics at home in 8 years. Like to see more investment in combat sports. Potential star Have some promising swimmers who impressed junior level too many to name . Mia Kretzer won x games gold 9 year old our skating looks great. Grae Morris future sailing star. Mollie O Callaghan will be in prime by LA. Jessica Hull progression has been amazing.
  11. Think netball should replace women's basketball replaced with netball or pros allowed.
