Valois Fortier's first round opponent (from France) has beaten him every time they have faced each other (minus once).
Reyes faces the European champ (from Netherlands) of all the unseeded people he drew him
Biyarslanov is an okay boxer. I really don't think be will beat the German in the second round. He won gold at the Pan Am Games (beating the Cuban, but it was likely home field advantage if anything) and Pan Am Qualifier, but really hasn't done anything on the global level.
For

From Pan Am 2007 they booed the countries which were expected to do well... I remember reports of Canada being booed all over the place. So yes this appears to have shifted to the Olympics.
Actually its pretty popular throughout the Caribbean, South Korea, Northern South America, Canada, USA, Japan. We also have competitive countries outside those such as the Netherlands.
I would add none of these sports (maybe karate)
Climbing/surfing/skateboarding are WTF
Baseball/softball have too little teams
Karate gives opportunities for smaller counties to medal so why not.
