  1. Brignone blows it on the bottom.... That was strange...
  2. She left some time on the clock though as she trailed Schnarf until the final turn.
  3. Basically, the terrain caught her out as she was carrying too much speed.
  4. Looks like the Super-G is ready to go. I'm slightly surprised Vonn picked #1 here. Guess she counts on the wind picking up for later numbers
  5. Somehow that doesn't surprise me they screwed the Korean by such a small margin

  7. Nobody bet on Rebensburg in Vancouver, now she underperforms as a major medal favorite. Skiing gods giveth, skiing gods taketh Shiffrin is a generational talent, I don't know how can you feel 'sad' about her performance? Rebensburg wasn't winning the gold with that 1st run anyway It's not Shiffrin's fault Lara Gut has stalled lately and Anna Veith doesn't have the same speed since her injuries. She truly stands heads & shoulders above her peers now. It's gonna be curious though to see what Petra Vlhova does in the slalom tomorrow. Maybe she'll make it competitive.
  8. This was VERY expected. Moelgg has a history of crashing out under pressure, hell, I'm shocked she even finished the 2nd run! Back in 2009 World Champs she led the slalom after 1st run and then still had the lead on the final split... with 10 turns to go she straddled a gate and threw away a certain gold medal. I'm very surprised both Worley and Rebensburg had such a poor showing in the 1st run. Shiffrin will re-write the history books when it's all said and done. She will make Lindsey Vonn's World Cup numbers look second-best. She will probably slay the slalom tomorrow Mowinckel is having the season of her lifetime and gets her reward. The women's alpine skiing team has always struggled compared to the men and their last elite skier was probably Trine Bakke like 15 years ago. Now they have Nina Loseth and Mowinckel. I'm really happy Brignone got a medal. She's had some bad luck following her World Championships silver in 2011. I believe her mother finished 4th in the slalom at Lake Placid OG (just 0,03 behind Erika Hess). I was really cheering for a Brignone medal here
  9. Britcher was my dark pick for bronze. What happened in the first run? She was way off the pace?
  10. But the moguls aren't won on the jumps! They're won on the turns. Laffont gave away 1,2 pts to Dufour-Lapointe on the jumps but made it up on the turns. The difference between the two was the time (0.2 pts). Laffont had the most turns points in the final six and fourth-highest among all three rounds. Btw, Galysheva had the most air points due to her signature front flip. If the moguls would be won on the jumps, she'd be a runaway gold medallist (and we'd see more women doing the front flip in general).
  11. Yeah, I thought so. I've heard it like 5-6 years ago but our TV experts claim that Italians still train at both Cortina/Cesena. I mean Cortina was still natural or more like concrete? I can't believe it's still out there? I mean I've heard the Pragelato ski jumping hill complex is also done?
  12. Luge/Bobsleigh is by far most expensive. I mean they hardly use those ex-Olympic venues. Is the Cesena track even operational these days? I've read that some people push for the natural luge tracks to be introduced to the Olympics but that would mean kicking out bobsleigh. So I don't see that happening.
  13. Among those who were ranked, Tony Benshoof finished 4th in Torino 2006 and Wendell Suckow 5th in Lillehammer 1994.
  14. Loch losing gold, still. It's not like he was nowhere after three runs. We've seen favorites' meltdown in biathlon before. Luge is like the most predictable winter sports event these days.
  15. Loch losing gold is a much bigger surprise. Luge is more predictable than biathlon.
  16. I picked Loch/Kindl/Ludwig so I'll get points
  17. Naude went for broke, why try the back-flip on the first jump? Everyone else stuck with the basic helicopter. Besides the turns are by far most important and the botched landing meant her challenge was over. The poor turns also affected Cox.
  18. Looks like the faster time made the difference between Laffont and JDL.
