  1. But the moguls aren't won on the jumps! They're won on the turns. Laffont gave away 1,2 pts to Dufour-Lapointe on the jumps but made it up on the turns. The difference between the two was the time (0.2 pts). Laffont had the most turns points in the final six and fourth-highest among all three rounds. Btw, Galysheva had the most air points due to her signature front flip. If the moguls would be won on the jumps, she'd be a runaway gold medallist (and we'd see more women doing the front flip in general).
  2. Yeah, I thought so. I've heard it like 5-6 years ago but our TV experts claim that Italians still train at both Cortina/Cesena. I mean Cortina was still natural or more like concrete? I can't believe it's still out there? I mean I've heard the Pragelato ski jumping hill complex is also done?
  3. Luge/Bobsleigh is by far most expensive. I mean they hardly use those ex-Olympic venues. Is the Cesena track even operational these days? I've read that some people push for the natural luge tracks to be introduced to the Olympics but that would mean kicking out bobsleigh. So I don't see that happening.
  4. Among those who were ranked, Tony Benshoof finished 4th in Torino 2006 and Wendell Suckow 5th in Lillehammer 1994.
  5. Loch losing gold, still. It's not like he was nowhere after three runs. We've seen favorites' meltdown in biathlon before. Luge is like the most predictable winter sports event these days.
  6. Loch losing gold is a much bigger surprise. Luge is more predictable than biathlon.
  7. I picked Loch/Kindl/Ludwig so I'll get points
  8. Naude went for broke, why try the back-flip on the first jump? Everyone else stuck with the basic helicopter. Besides the turns are by far most important and the botched landing meant her challenge was over. The poor turns also affected Cox.
  9. Looks like the faster time made the difference between Laffont and JDL.
  10. Aaaaaand he's gone... Fourcade with a highway to gold now...
  11. Fak with one miss in the prone. That doesn't look good for his medal chances.
  12. Tbh, I don't like it either. It's as useless as Team Event in alpine skiing. Just another excuse for powerhouse nations to get another medal.
  13. If the competiiton was moved to another day and Hula/Stoch would finish where they did, Polish media would still bitch about that decision too. It was a no-win situation for the organizers but surprise, surprise, nature always wins the tug-of-war with humans. Hula really only has himself to blame.
  14. This is ridiculous, everyone except for the Germans and Norwegians will complain about the wind. Ski jumping is the most weather-affected event and that will never change. There was a big debate before the wind compensations were introduced and now they're also wrong? Sheesh... there was a time nobody measured the wind. Hula blew up mentally, this much is evident to me. Wellinger and Johansson took advantage of the conditions and were rewarded. The media hype in Poland is downright pathetic, I can't even listen to TVP coverage anymore. The FIS delegate said that after the 1st round they did everything they could to finish the competition. So postponing the 2nd round was never an option. And that's correct. It's the Olympic Games, there is a big schedule and wind-affected competitions are old news.
