  1. It's a quite long, but nevertherless, interesting article about the real cost of YOG 2018. https://www.jensweinreich.de/2019/10/18/the-real-costs-of-the-youth-olympic-games-2018-in-buenos-aires-at-least-115-billion-usd/
  2. Only to the end of 2019, not the whole season. However, the Swedish camp says she will not start in Tour de Ski. They will not force anything, so maybe she will first be back in the end of January or February.
  3. Ebba Anderson is likely out the rest of the year due to a knee injury. This was confirmed by the national team doctor, Magnus Oscarsson, today. It was during a training run at the national team camp in Bruksvallarna that Andersson fell and hit the knee where she has previously sustained an injury.
  4. It's due to stormy weather conditions on the competition days. The organisers could not guarantee the safety of the skiers and complete fairness for all skiers during their runs. https://www.oesv.at/news/wetterkapriolen-verhindern-freeski-weltcup-stubai/ (In German).
  5. Correct. After the two first races the managers are allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10. I have considered some different options about the top 10 during the process of creating this: 1. Managers weren't allowed to buy more biathletes from the top 10 before WC stage 4. This would likely make managers consider if it was worth switching out a weak biathlete with a strong biathlete, as it could cost a lot of points because of the transfer system. 2. Buying biathletes from the top 10 would cost 2 transfers instead of 1. 3. Have a cap/maximum of Top 10 biathletes on a team. Managers were only allowed to have 5 top 10 biahtletes on their team at the same time. I'm aware that many managers will likely stock up on biathletes from the top 10, as many of them will likely perform well throughout the season. It could lead to very similar teams. I'm still not certain how much of an effect the limit of biathletes per nation and negative points from the transfer system could have on managers' will to buy biathletes from the top 10? As I have written earlier, this season is being used to see how the different systems works in this game. It's easier to see what works and doesn't after the season is over.
  6. team for Wisla: Daniel-André Tande Robert Johansson Johann André Forfang Robin Pedersen Thomas Aasen Markeng Marius Lindvik It's a bit of a surpise that Halvor Egner Granerud has not been selected. He was 15th in the overall world cup and 3rd best Norwegian last season. He was also the 3rd best Norwegian jumper in the summer grand prix, so I would have expected to see him here. However, he was 56th in the qualification last year in Wisla. It could be a reason. Besides, they probably want to see how the young Thomas Aasen Markeng can perform in the World Cup. It was most likely a decision between Granerud and Pedersen and they likely selected Pedersen because of Granerud's poor perfomance on the hill last year.
  7. Norway's team for WC 1: Tiril Eckhoff Emilie Kalkenberg Karoline Knotten Marte O. Roeiseland Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold Lars Helge Birkeland Erlend Bjoentegaard Johannes T. Boe Tarjei Boe Vetle S. Christiansen Johannes Dale Synnove Solemdal or Thekla Brun-Lie will join the women's team after the first IBU Cup 1 sprint. The best of the two on the sprint will get the last spot.
  8. Henrik L'Abee Lund has retired and Sindre Petersen is part of the development team this season, so Dale's spot in the WC team is somewhat safe. Norway is one of those nations who have 6 men in their Elite team, which is basically the WC team. This season it's: Lars Helge Birkeland Erlend Oevereng Bjoentegaard Johannes Thingnes Boe Tarjei Boe Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen Johannes Dale http://www.skiskyting.no/?module=Articles&action=Article.publicOpen&id=269 The reserves for the first WC are: Aleksander Fjeld Andersen Endre Stromsheim It's interesting to see that Sindre Petersen is not even a reserve for the first WC. I think the Norwegian coaches gave the two reserve spots to Andersen and Stromsheim because of their podium places in Sjusoen. Of course the biathletes in the Elite team are not safe at all if they do not perform up to the tough Norwegian standard in men's biathlon. There are a bunch of very good, young biathletes who are ready to take their spots.
  9. Just to clarify: Managers can select a maximum of 3 biathletes of the 19 in the template. Nation Biathlete Placement in Last Season's WC Women Dorothea Wierer 1. Lisa Vittozzi 2. Marte Olsbu Roeiseland 4. Hanna Oeberg 5. Paulina Fialkova 6. Kaisa Makarainen 7. Denise Herrmann 8. Franziska Preuss 9. Monika Hojnisz-Starega 10. Men Johannes Thingnes Boe 1. Alexander Loginov 2. Quentin Fillon Maillet 3. Simon Desthieux 4. Arnd Peiffer 5. Tarjei Boe 6. Benedikt Doll 7. Simon Eder 8. Julian Eberhard 9. Lukas Hofer 10. So managers can choose one of these options: 3 women and 0 men, 3 men and 0 women, 2 women and 1 man, 2 men and 1 woman. Of course managers are not forced to select 3 biathletes from the template. They can also choose to select only 2, 1 or no biathletes from the template above. I'm sorry if it wasn't clearly written. My mistake.

  12. Selecting your biathlon team Your biathlon team will consist of 5 female and 5 male biathletes. You are only allowed to select 2 biathletes from the same nation. Only 1 male and 1 female biathlete from the same nation are allowed. 2 male or 2 female biathletes are not allowed. For the first World Cup round, managers can select a maximum of 3 biathletes in total from last WC season’s overall top 10 in both men’s and women’s WC. For every World Cup Round, managers select one male captain and one female captain. Nation Captains Nation Women Nation Men Top 10 from last WC season Managers can select maximum 3 biathletes out of the 19 biathletes below in the template for the first World Cup round: Nation Biathlete Placement in Last Season's WC Women Dorothea Wierer 1. If any biathlete on the list above has retired, please let me know. The deadline for managers to select their team for the first WC is December 1st, h. 12:30 (GMT +1). Calender for the 2019/20 season: Point and Transfer systems, Standing etc. Explained here: https://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/1571-prediction-contests-biathlon-manager-game-discussion-thread/&do=findComment&comment=252111 The beloved Lord of BMG, Wumo, will post an updated standing after every individual in race in the World Cup. Exception! In case of two races are held on the same day, the standing will be updated after the last race of the day have been completed. The standing will include every manager's total points and the points the biathlete on his/her team have scored in that race. You can check the total points and individual race points of every biathlete in this document: BMG Biathlete Points (1) (2) (1) (1) (1) (1).xlsx Notice! The document already contains a list of biathletes. This list is only provisional! It's not a 100% accurate representation of the final start lists for the sprints in the WC 1. Many federations have yet to select their team and injuries and illnesses can happen, so do remember to check IBU's datacenter for the official start lists. An updated version of the document will be published together with an updated standing of BMG. 13. Yes, good, old, not always reliable, Google Translate. I should have joined the league now?
  14. Well, I don't have any autographs from any real athlete. My friend's autograph from when he was 9 years old doesn't count, because you know, he wasn't a real athlete. However, I did appreciate it at that time.
  15. I have joined. We can create a private league, or if it is just you and me, a duel between or club/team. My username is of course, Wumo and my club/team is Latający Duńczycy. I hope this means "Flying Danes or the Flying Danes" in Polish? One question, @Vojthas. Do you have one or more teams?
  16. Strange, maybe. Complicated, indeed. This season of BMG will very much be used as sort of a prototype to see what works and doesn't. I'm curious to see which biathletes benefit most from this point system?
  17. I'm sorry, I have not responed before now. To answer your questions: 1) It will be much more clear when I open the Biathlon Manager Game Thread. 3f, now been changed to 3e) I know it's not so clear, but what I write is what I mean. An example to clarify. J.T. Boe scores 150 points in the first WC round. You would like to earn some points via the transfer system, so you choose to "sell" J. T. Boe. You then choose to "buy" L. Hofer for your team to replace J. T. Boe. Hofer scored 80 points in the first WC round. The difference is +70 points (150-80), so 70 points are added to your total score. Let's say your 10 biathletes have scored a total of 670 points after the first WC round. You decide to make the aforementioned transfer. Your total score will then be 740 (670+70) when the second WC round starts. I hope this has clarified how the transfer system works. And yes, I'm a bit crazy. Or that is what some of my friends tell me when I come up with ideas like these. Anyhow, thanks for the good luck. I probably need it. To all, I have deleted some paragraphs in the rules. Nothing drastically, the point system is still the same. @heywoodu I don't know what the price could be? Maybe a personal autograph from a certain Brazilian female biathlete? According to my knowledge, you seem to know one very well.

  20. Today, an unsual event in Danish sports and ice hockey happened. Ice hockey player, Kristian Jensen, who plays in the Danish Ice Hockey League for Frederikshavn White Hawks, was found guilty of violence - in having given a player a severe blow to the head during a match in September. He got a suspended sentenced of 20 days in prison for his action. It's very rare a violent action during a sport match in up in court in Denmark and a player/athlete gets a sentence. The court was aware that the ice hockey player had already been severely sanctioned by the Danish Ice Hockey Union by giving him a 17-match suspension. However, the general justice system must intervene in such situation, it was stated from the court. - The legal order must provide protection next to the ice hockey system, said judge, Jeanette Thørholm Andersen, as she presented the grounds for the verdict You can watch the episode below:

After TOISC 2018 in USA, the rules for section 9 in the TISC rulebook was changed from this: SECTION 9 - FUTURE HOSTING RIGHTS: 9. (a) Upon completion of the relevant song contest, the winning nation will automatically be awarded the rights to host the subsequent Totallympics International Song Contest 1 year later. 9. (b) If the winning nation wishes to decline the hosting duties, a discussion will be raised in the relevant TISC thread to discuss hosting options and allowing users to put forward their bid to become the next hosts. To this: SECTION 9 - FUTURE HOSTING RIGHTS: 9. (a) Upon completion of the relevant song contest, the winning nation will automatically be awarded the rights to host the subsequent Totallympics International Song Contest 1 year later. 9. (b) If the winning nation wishes to decline the hosting duties, the runner-up of that edition will then be awarded the opportunity to accept or decline the hosting rights. If the runner-up also declines the hosting duties, the 3rd placed nation of that edition will have the opportunity to accept or decline the hosting rights. 9. (c) In the event that the hosting rights are declined by the top 3 ranked nations at the previous edition of the relevant TISC, an open bid process will be conducted in order to award the hosting rights. This process will be open to all candidates, first-time hosts as well as previous hosts. A random draw will take place with each candidate being awarded a number of tickets in the draw. The more tickets a candidate has entered, the better their chance of being selected as host. Here is the process for how the tickets will be distributed: Each candidate automatically awarded 1 ticket each in the draw. However, additional tickets awarded as follows - did not host in the previous 5 editions (+1 additional ticket) - did not host in the previous 10 editions (+1 additional ticket) - did not host previously (+2 additional tickets) - took part in the previous bidding process (+1 additional ticket). For first-time hosts, they will add an additional ticket for each edition they are unsuccessful for in bidding, thus increasing their chance slightly with each unsuccessful bid. This increase will only be available for first-time hosts. Additionally, if a first-time host missed 2 consecutive bidding campaigns, then their tickets no longer carry forward and they lose those additional tickets.
