I was looking at it again for a post on another site.  Worked it out!.  The standard coverage will be on up to 4 simultaneous FISU.TV channels - broadcasting schedule not announced yet, but starting with the official opening on Friday morning.  The ice hockey prelims (or some of them) will be on special transmissions on Wednesday & Thursday.  I guess just using a limited number of fixed cameras in the arenas.

There is a FISU classification system related to the participation of countries in the team sports of the World University Games in which there is relegation and the permanence of the participating teams and it applies to both the Winter Games and the Summer Games.It is based on the performances of the previous edition, which in this case the winter one was in Krasnoyarsk, Russia in 2019. Thus, the last two placed in each of the team sports events would be relegated and their places would be filled by the next ones on the waiting list.These criteria will not be applied this time, due to the suspension of Russia and Belarus in the world sports system.

 

In the men's Ice Hockey tournament in 2019 Japan and Sweden would be relegated, which were in 11th and 12th position respectively.As Russia is banned and Switzerland withdrew, Sweden and Japan who were 11th and 12th remained and open spots went to Ukraine and South Korea.As this happened on Woman's Tournament as the same rules are 

are being applied and China and Switzerland that participated in the tournament in 2019 were relegated, the next countries that were on the list were the United Kingdom and Slovakia and the point that was from Russia was left and went to the Czech Republic.This also happened on curling tournament.For men, the two last placed countries on last edition were relegated.They were China and Russia (this not changed) were relegated in 2019 and in their places Brazil and Japan entered,as they are  next two countries on the FISU waiting list.In the women's tournament, the Czech Republic and Italy would be relegated in 2019. But with the non-participation of Russia, only Italy was relegated and the remaining places went to Australia and Spain.

@De_Boni.BR I thought the selections were interesting because it seemed like there were a few differences between the announced selections for Lucerne and the teams ultimately selected for Lake Placid. I’d imagine the pandemic/invasion/timing had something to do with it, but I still wonder how FISU makes their discretionary selections for various sports at the summer/winter Universiades (ie, what actually criteria are applied to replace the relegated teams).

It would appear there is a grand total of six (6) entries in women’s nordic combined 

 

There’s still a few sports missing entries, but I have noticed a few Olympians and bigger names amongst the entires. Notably, women’s figure skating has five skaters who made the free skate in Beijing entered, including bronze medalist Kaori Sakamoto

Yes my friend,

The maximum number of teams participating in the World Winter Games in team sports is: 10 in curling (both genders), 12 in men's ice hockey and 8 in women's (it should be noted that this number was never reached,the highest number was 7 in 2015 and 2017) and in some cases it is normal to use the ranking of the base categories or else the results of the editions previous.On this year Summer Games.FISU had to make another draw on the collective events,as originally Canada,Australia,UK and New Zealand withdrawn for the Chengdu Games,but they maybe turn back of this decison.
