Nope, because Berlin is part of the World Marathon Major Series.

Keep an eye out for my RoadToTokyo site update later this week.  I've slowly been working through the Gold Label, Marathon Majors and Doha World Champs results to pick up any athletes I missed that have the standard by top 5 or 10 position (as relevant) but didn't get the time.  Note this includes all Boston top 10 finishers (who don't already have the time) as the course is not eligible for times to count.  So far I've identified 14 men and 31 women.

@Wumo I have a general question about qualification. I know that the number of quotas per event and per gender are capped at a certain amount. I was wondering if the universality quotas are included in that amount?

No, they are not included in the cap of every single event.

There is a cap of 1900 athletes in athletics overall which include the relay athletes and universality places. If you add up all the the athlete quotas in every event, you get 1874 athletes. This means that there are 26 athlete quotas for those athletes who only run relay and universality places.

We could very well not see Mayer in Tokyo, now. :(

Oh damn, he has no result in 2019 and no world ranking, I guess? He needs to gain a result until July, doesn't he?

Yes, he either needs to get the standard in (probably) either Götzis or Ratingen or complete two (?) Events for World ranking Points. These Events could also be Indoor-Heptathlons.

    • A question about relay  qualification to LA 2028:    either you are among top 12 at the WCH, then you get 2 additional spots, or you have 4 swimmers there anyway and they can compete as relay, is that right?    now following scenario:  lets say an NOĆ has only one swimmer with A standard , let’s say 100m freestyle, and no other  swimmer qualified in any other discipline, but they are 12th in 4x100 freestyle at the WCH.  they would get two additional quota, but would have to decline them as they can’t compose a relay with 3 swimmers? Is this correct?

    • If anyone is interested, here is a link to a GeoGuessr Challenge.   It's in single player. There are 5 rounds total, and you have to pinpoint on a map as close as you can to the actual location that you spawned at. For this particular challenge, you have a time limit of 10 minutes per round and you can move as much as you want.   Since this is Totallympics, thought this particular map would be an appropriate theme. There is a flag at the start of each location that's supposed to help you identify where you are.   You can do this challenge at any time (no need to coordinate times with other users) and you only need a regular account, not a premium account.

    • Puerto Rico beats  Cuba 4-1 and advances to the quarterfinals.   The Canada vs. Cuba matchup on Wednesday will decide who will be the 2nd team to advance from Pool A.
    • I mean you don't need 2 weeks for a 12 team tournament. The 20-team WBC is already 13 days and they are stretching the final stages. You can probably get away doing it in 9-10 days, including rain contingency.
    • The 6 teams is very disappointing, but I think there would be no chance the MLB would allow players is the competition took the entire length of the Olympics. Giving players one week off is manageable, two weeks is near impossible from the MLB perspective.   IOC probably had to decide between having 8-12 teams w/o MLB players or 6 teams with possibly having MLB players.
