RobtheAggie 340 Posted May 26, 2023 #21 Share Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) Alexander Fjeld Andersen has retired. I would love to do some genealogy work and find a US ancestor or relative. Edited May 26, 2023 by RobtheAggie

Wow, with some of these biathletes I feel like I didn't even get to know them over the last few seasons and they're already retiring...
RobtheAggie 340 Posted May 27, 2023 #23 Share Posted May 27, 2023 A little bit more about Andersen's retirement or firing, depending on whose side you are looking from. "Last winter in the IBU Cup, Andersen finished 17 times in the top 10. When he got the opportunity in the World Cup in Östersund, he decorated his nomination with, among other things, sixth place in the mass start. But in the end it is not even enough for a place in the Norwegian B-team for next season."
RobtheAggie 340 Posted May 30, 2023 #24 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Often during the training season we get some strange stories. This is one of those. It appears that Erika Jänkä, a member of the Finnish women's biathlon team, was out for a training run, and a bear charged her. She played dead and the bear eventually left. They've easily got 10+ athletes who could get a double digit amount of IBU Cup top-10's in a season. I guess there's more playing in the background behind his retiring that is not directly related to performances. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! RobtheAggie 340 Posted June 12, 2023 #27 Share Posted June 12, 2023 (edited) In happy news, Belarussian biathlon couple Dzinara Alimbekava and Anton Smolski are expecting their first child. So, even if Belarussian biathletes were able to compete in IBU events this upcoming season she would not be there. By the way, Alimbekava now goes by Smolskaya. RobtheAggie 340 Posted June 15, 2023 #28 Share Posted June 15, 2023 Johannes Tinges Boe got bit by a snake in his garden and had to go to the ER. For those who asked for more Estonia, the 2024 Summer Biathlon Championship has been awarded to Otepaa.
