LDOG 2,418 Posted February 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) Prediction Contests Are Just-For-Fun Games You don't need to be an expert to take part in a Prediction Contest. If a mistake penalizes you, always keep in mind that everyone is in good faith. Competition Details City PyeongChang Start Date February 9th, 2018 End Date February 26th, 2018 Participants 49 Gold Dunadan Silver phelps Bronze Albe Instructions In order to post your predictions, you have to do the following: Select with your mouse specified content of the Post named Prediction Contest Design Copy the selected content Go to Reply Box at the end of the Page, click on "Reply to this topic" Paste the copied content (When information "You have pasted content with formatting" appears at the end of the Reply Box, ignore it, it will disappear eventually. DO NOT click on "Remove formatting" under any circumstances) Once you have specified content in new Post, start making your predictions according to the Rules To post your predictions, click on "Submit Reply" button Rules Erase "Yes" or "No", depending on what your answer for each single bet will be. If you want to answer a bet with "Yes", all you have to do is erasing the word "No", leaving only "Yes" as your answer. Overwrite the "X" with a number between 1 and 10. Those will be the points you distribute for a specific bet. If you win a bet, you will win the amount of points you gave for that bet, but be careful, if you lose the bet, the amount of points you gave for that bet will be taken away from your overall points in this contest. You can't leave out a bet. All bets must be given 1 point minimum at least. 10 points per bet are the maximum. Example "Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) will win at least 3 Gold Medals." - YES - 7 - If you choose “Yes” and she wins 3 gold medals, you will win the bet and get points for that question - 7 points won. - If she doesn’t while you said "Yes", you’ll lose the bet and points - 7 points lost. - If you choose "No" and she wins all 3 gold medals, you will lose the bet - 7 points lost. - If she doesn't while you said "No", you will win the bet and points - 7 points won. You have a total of 250 points to distribute for all 70 bets. You don't have to use all 250 points if you don't want to, but you can't go above 250 for all 70 bets. Use your points wisely. The user with the highest amount of points at the end of the competition (after the end of the Games) will be declared the winner. Should there be more than one user with the same amount of points, the first priority will be the amount of bets won, then the highest scores won in those same bets. The final answers for the contest's bets will be set as of February 26th (the day after the olympics), meaning possible future changes in them (ie. due to doping cases) won't be taken into consideration. If a bet is already decided before the start of the Games (due to injury of an athlete mentioned in it, doping, etc) that bet will be eliminated from the contest and all users will be asked to re-distribute the points they invested in said bet. If an user is unable to edit his post before the start of the competition, then those points will be lost for the final count. Please, take into account when placing your bets that for all of those that ask for the position of a nation in the medal table we are using, unless specifically said otherwise, the criteria of Gold Medals first (then Silvers, then Bronzes). You can only enter the competition before the start of competition on the Day of the Opening Ceremony. February 9th, h. 08:35 (GMT +9) will be considered the deadline, you can’t enter the contest after that and you can't edit your votes after that. Every contestant MUST HIDE their own predictions. To do that, you have only to delete the space between the bracket "[" and the text "hide" in "[ hide]" at the beginning of prediction post. Do the same with "[ /hide]" at the end of prediction post too. The hidden content will appear to other users as follows: This post has been hidden. Only the user who posted it is able to see the content Please post your comments, thoughts, questions concerning this competition in the specific Discussion Topic created for it.
