Impressive race for Jaque so far, a minute ahead of Mika after one lap, with Bruna a few seconds behind. Nothing to panic about yet, the plan was to have the focus of the race in the second half and especially the last lap, so as long as she stays in touch with Mika's times, it should be going fine.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

And that's a DNF for Bruna, sadly. She was overtaken in a downhill by someone (we believe Keidy Kaasiku of Estonia) who then immediately pulled up straight in front of her and braked before a turn for which Bruna wasn't going to brake. The result was sudden evasive action...and quite a fall, just nothing to do about it when someone makes a move like that. Hurt knee afterwards, so there was no point in going on for more than half of the race just to lose more time and potentially damage the knee.

Excellent result for Jaque meanwhile, with a good result for Mika as well.

No, but that was already planned. There is no reason whatsoever to start there, since it won't count for the Olympic ranking anyway and it's basically just a waste of energy :p

She'll be in tomorrow's sprint qualifying though, so...new day, new chances!

That could make today's situation a bit of a big deal. There is a classic distance race in Austria on the 18th, the week after they're already in Austria anyway, so that would be perfect, but it's the Brazilian federation....even with this being a potentially crucial race, they might just as easily say "Ah alright, we'll go to our Christmas location earlier then :)" instead of race.

Yeah, I was about to post it as well. They answered the mail with general official statement

Dear sports friends, the organizing committee of the Tatras Cup in cross-country skiing (FIS Slavic Cup) has decided that the races will not take place in the originally scheduled period 18-19. December 2021. Despite all the efforts made by the organizers and the good weather forecast for that period, due to the increased risk of transmitting COVID-19 and related current measures in the country, it is not possible to organize international cross-country skiing competition. As soon as the risks will be reduced and the applicable legislation will allows the organization of the race, we will inform you about the alternative date for the competitions. Sincerely, ŠK Štrba Club.

Really sad about this :(

Excellent result for @brunamoura in today's sprint in Seefeld :cheer:

Only 7 seconds behind Jaque. Which seems more than last week...but last week Jaque fell, today she didn't :p 9 seconds ahead of Mika and 12 ahead of Duda, and a personal sprint best (on European snow) of 261 FIS points :cheer:

This was a very useful step on the way to the Olympics, tomorrow is arguably even more important when it's time for the 5k classic. Which we can see :d

She starts at 13:37

Start lists for the classic distance races in St Ulrich today:

@brunamoura's goal today is damage control considering she's been sick, so let's see how it goes on a pretty hard 5k lap there.

Caught up with Mika before the first split (2.3km) and after one lap she is still roughly 40 seconds ahead of her (meaning around 10 seconds in front of Mika on the track). Just keeping this up or even losing a bit would be perfectly fine.
