What about Amiya Malik in 100 m men? Last time I repeatedly asked about Srabani Nanda whom you didnt keep in your probable list (refer page 130/131 of this thread) and you ignored my query for the same..

This time what is your logic for ignoring Amiya Malik??

Amiya best score is 10.26 and the cut of is 10.16   ...I felt that he will find it difficult to hit 10.16 but he may be motivated by fellow state sprinters making it ........ I am updating the list now to add amiya  :yes........................   Sorry I missed your query Tirtha earlier on srabani ........... I did not see it ,,,,,,,,,,,,, I was in the middle of some workshop did not follow the forum completely ....

Some are.saying what is the.difference between 102 &120. Medal contenders will remain same. I have big objection on it. Our athlets are qualifying through achieving a target set by international body. Except swimming none will qualify through so called wild card. Many of these standards were even better than our national record. These qualification standard gives inspiration to our athlets to better national record. Now these players main abjective is to earn quota, in sports with out international exposure you cannot create champions. Champions are not born, they are to be created. If our 120 player's achive quota it means our 120 players have crossed a big barrier. It means they have achive a specific international standard. Today those who are working hard for qualification, will be the medal contender tomorrow. I hope the sucess of these 115-120  players who will qualify through qualification process, will give inspiration to our swimmers also, and they too will decide that in 2020 we will atleast have a 3-4 swimmers achieving A qualification standard. Please enjoy the sucess of these 120 players, they have started a new.chapter in our sports. Please dont underestimate their success. Feel proud of them. And hope that minimum of 120 players  will qualify for rio.

I complete agree with you vivek ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, A sport cannot be measured only by medals at the olympics .................. for example many of the athletes who have qualified have broken the A mark may not win in the olympics but they  will be formidable at the asian games, so when the commonwealth games or asian games comes it will matter and they will raise indian pride ..........., even if Dipa for example may not win a medal ...her life story is inspiring to me and for all gymnasts - My daughter is a gymnast at the district level - I showed her dipas video to inspire her ....................  I think interest in sports goes up with each quota achieved ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I think if we achieve 120 quota it is a huge step forward for indian sports ..................... Yes medals do matter and I feel we will be able to do better than London because with 120 we will have a greater number ( as a quality management specialist we have in quality something called lead indicators - the first signs of problems or achievements ......... 120 quota places is a lead indicator  which will lead to greater achievements  in terms of medals  )

Let us be realistic, guys.

Currently, we have 19 more quotas than London. Of these 16 have come from womens hockey ( which is basically only 1 quota ) and where have no chance for a medal. Additional 12 have come in athletics where again we have no chance of a medal. 2 sports in which we have medal chances - archery and boxing - our strength has come down from London.

Overall, our medal strength appears more or less same as London. Medals do not correspond directly with increase in qualification nos. for the reasons I mentioned above.

Guys, I'm not expecting more medals than last time, but definitely our sports is moving in the right direction.
