Women's Rugby Sevens Tournament at the Summer Olympic Games 2020

Recommended Posts

Pretty straightforward final. NZ wins.

By the way, why do they keep playing when the clock expires and the lead is larger than 7 points? It makes no sense.

Straightforward thanks to a very partial reffing. Hard to fight back when pretty much every decision is going the other way. Easy contests given to NZ (albeit not releasing here and there), never to France, offside with no ruck ...

Kudos to the Black Ferns, can't say they don't deserve it, but once again I feel like we were not given the chance to actually win a final.

This tournament was by far and away the best rugby I’ve seen :FIJ women’s team play. They were usually good on defense for a Fijian team of any gender. The only issue they have is ball handling. If they can play like they did and improve that…I wouldn’t want to play them in Paris.

Very happy for for them.

    • That would require the Dominican Republic losing to South Korea and I'll eat a sock if that happens

    • Yep, if they can take advantage of those cracks maybe, but it's too big of a maybe in my opinion. Our pitching has relied on Caissie, Toro, and Lopez the entire tournament, and I don't see that being enough to match the US's firepower.   Canadians are used to disappointment, there's almost always things that go wrong, and there actually being a chance to qualify for the...
    • That was realistic though, this isn't.   The women were heavy favourites, we did better than expected. The men were favourites with their roster of course, but they dominated that final just unfortunate to be going up against prime Hellebuyck who was a brick wall and of course there were a few questionable calls that were crucial in the end.
    • It's unlikely, but possible. USA pitching is not that great imo. Canada will probably have to score 6+ runs to have a chance, but it's definitely possible.
    • If they can beat us in hockey, we can win in baseball
