Grassmarket 2,960 Posted August 6, 2021 #416 Share Posted August 6, 2021 Think we can add Kirsten Wild to the list of the athletes for whom these Olympics are one year too late. heywoodu

orangeman 1,434 Posted August 6, 2021 #418 Share Posted August 6, 2021 Can someone please explain the sprint progression to me. We just had 8 heats of the 1/16 round with 8 winners going to the 1/8 round. But the losing riders go to a repechage to have a chance to compete in the 1/8 round, too? Doesn't that throw the numbers off?

The naming of the rounds only make sense in the sense that 1/32th final means you still have a 1/16th, 1/8th and so on finals. 1/32th final: 12 heats, winners move on. 4 repechage winners also move on. 1/16th final: 8 heats, winners move on. 4 repechage winners also move on. 1/8th final: 6 heats, winners move on. 2 repechage winners also move on. 1/4th final onward: best of three, no repechage. orangeman
