Isn't the video footage enough?

Well, it can't prove that Sidi actually did something inside the room, which probably means that Péni is fucked if he's the one who has the positive test. I still have a small bit of hope left that it's another Hungarian shooter, not Péni.

Even if Peni can prove that someone spiked his drink, process would take time. And he would be provisionally banned till then. Even then, he might get a reduced ban. Basically, if his test has come positive, almost no chance for him to compete in Tokyo.

They still don't want to reveal who had the positive test, but Ágnes Tiszeker, who represents the Hungarian Antidoping Agency, said that while every positive test is unfortunate, what happened in this case will be particularly shocking. She said that we will be talking about this for a long time and there will be lessons learned from it.

So yeah, this all but confirms what's going on, but the Hungarian Shooting Federation will remain silent until they finish their investigation.

It's official, István Péni is the Hungarian shooter who had the positive doping test. People at the Hungarian Federation suspect that someone put drug into the B vitamin of István Péni, the substance that caused the positive test can be bought anywhere in the world. The investigation is still not finished, but the suspect is clearly Péter Sidi. It's up to ISSF and WADA what they will do with István Péni, first ISSF will have to decide whether they will let him compete in Tokyo and then WADA will have to decide whether they want to veto the decision of the ISSF. As far as the Hungarian federation and the Hungarian Antidoping Agency is concerned, so far they seem to be on the side of Péni. I think they still hope that at least one of the shooters will be declared innocent and can compete in Tokyo, not sure how realistic that is.

Also, just to reiterate: you have no clue whatsoever about Hungarian sports or about the country if you think that there's "system" in place for doping. We had and will always have some athletes who will take stuff, as in every country, maybe sometimes in a small group with their friends like our two doping gold medalists in Athens, but there can't be a system where the sports aren't centralized and even more importantly: the people at the top don't care that much. Orbán's true passion is football, everything else is secondary, and the same can be said about his party regarding sports. And their main goal is to steal money, the results aren't that important. There's just no good reason for the them to have anything similar to what Russia had, risking a ton of humiliation in case they are exposed, which would likely happen because Hungarian media still have enough freedom for that. And most of the top Hungarian athletes have their own coaches and don't train in a big unified Hungarian national team. Like, Hosszú might as well could have been a completely foreign swimmer when she won most of her gold medals, she was a complete outsider with her training and Shane Tusup. Milák also has his own coach, Attila Selmeczi, who's fully in control of his training.

The huge corruption and the money laundering inside Hungarian sports is the actual big issue, not some nonexistent doping system.

And side note: if there would actually be a doping system, it would mean that we are doing a terrible job because our results are constant at best, or we are getting worse. Why are we so shit in athletics and weightlifting (and getting worse) if we have this system? :d Hungarian weightlifting has never been as terrible as it is now.

Dirty story... i'm sad for that. In Italy there is a mode to say: "brother knives".

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
