If someone isn't competing for the World Cup Overall title, skipping Oberhof makes sense: the weather there is terrible every year and competitors come down with a wave of colds. It's best to avoid this stage altogether. I hope Giacomel doesn't end up going there either.

Always my belief that many winter sports athletes are over-trained rather than under-trained.  A week off does no harm at all.

Personally, I'm afraid that she will come back too soon before the Olympics and something bad will happen I don't really know what to expect from her? Fighting for the podium, for 10th place, etc.? She said that if she comes back, it will only be in top form, but it could be different.
