"non dire gatto..." and you know the remaining part...

awful second run by D-Fisch, going down in the final ranking from 1st to 6th...

at least, the final win didn't go to a German luger, since it was the Russian Pavlichenko to get the highest place on the podium...

second was the local hero and reigning World Champion, Wolfgang Kindl, after a very good comeback and 3rd, despite 2 ordinary runs, was Felix Loch, who doesn't seem to have started the season with his best shape (and sled)...

for Italy, the second best in the team was Kevin Fischnaller; decent 8th place at the end of the day for him...

not so good, on the other hand, Emanuel Rieder and Theo Gruber's races (only 21st and 18th, respectively)...

to be honest, I expected a lot more from our guys on this track, where they train very often...

p.s. I still think that a day race can't be scheduled in Igls at this time of the year...or the competitions are held after 9 p.m. or this entire event should just be scheduled for late December/early January...

right now, we can only watch unfair and "crazy" races...and this is not good for the sport and respectful for the athletes...

however...now, let's see how the team relay go...

I read only the results, I can't watched the 2nd run sadly..  what mistake he do?

Not really anything, results were mostly influenced by the snow that got stronger towards the end.

no major mistake...it was a question of blades...it was quite "hot" (relatively speaking, of course) and there was a light snowfall going on, so, as usual in this condition, our sleds were not so good...

that's why I wrote that Igls can't be a site good for WC competition so early in the season...it's quite unfair to the whole pack of lugers...

however, you can watch by yourself all the runs (D-Fisch starts his second run at 1h02min in the video)...

Decent 7th place in the opening Relay event for us. Also the gap +1,262 behind Germany is relatively good. It would be really a shame if we don´t qualify a team for PyeongChang

no comment on the Italian disaster in the team relay...we could have easily got a podium place and we have just thrown it away by choosing the clearly wrong female member of the squad...:wall:

I think he met the 1st minimum criteria for qualification and now needs to participate in 5 World Cups for confirmation.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
    • Italy also has its own list, although of course not every injury is as terribile  in terms of medal losses. In winter sports have unfortunately much more injuries than summer sports. In the summer only: cycling, volleyball and football.     - Brignone: will return in January, - Tabanelli: will return for the Olympics, - Bassino: season over, - Marta Rossetti: season over, - Lara Malsinier: season over.
    • TNT staff expect they will offer it at a price similar to what they offering the Winter Olympics for rather than the full TNT price.   But equally the main coverage is apparently going to be very different to what they do for the Olympics (Which is less pundits and studio chat than the BBC) with speculation it might be based on NBC’s Olympic coverage with tons of human interest etc.
    • India Sherret (ski cross)   Another name to the ever-growing list of injuries for the Canadian team… used to be excited for the Olympics, now not so much…
    • Voted  Thank you for extending the deadline and allowing me to vote once my exams are over. @OlympicIRL
