Thanks :) But let's hope they won't be running as they will be removed from the race :d

We have no chances of course but hoping Brendan Boyce can show a new PB.

No chances at all? I'd say Heffernan is an outsider at the very least :p

God help us :d. Not sure if many others would understand why I awake so early on my day off to watch a 50km walk from the start but at least there are one or two of our species in this world :d

Last year on the day of the Olympic 50km the Brazilian biathletes had a stop over in Amsterdam on their way to Norway, so I obviously wanted to go there, say hi and have a chat with my friends, but the entire train trip back home afterwards I spent watching the 50k walk live stream on my phone :d (and there were some odd glances from other people in the train on what the hell I was watching, it's like this was more strange than watching porn in their eyes..)

Great results for GB today! Finally saving a championships of near misses, we need 2 medals tomorrow to reach our target and keep all the funding awarded for the Tokyo cycle.

Excited for Tom in the race walk tomorrow and the 4x400m, praying someone other than USA manages to win one of them, but it's not looking likely!

A very distant outsider these days with his best years behind him now. I know nothing about his preparation this year so I don't have any indication of his form.

I am most looking forward to seeing Brendan Boyce, a local athlete.... hoping he can achieve a new PB and keep slowly edging towards the top 10 of this event.

Dude, this morning when I woke up I already set my alarm at 07.30 for tomorrow just so I really wouldn't forget doing so, no worries :d

And yes, that's 07.30 my time, so 1:15h before the start, gives me time to read up and get ready

That is what I call being well prepared! I will probably set mine for 07:00, enough time to talk myself out of bed for 10 mins and prepare a quick breakfast :d

Yes, I know that feeling.... any time you bring up athletics or Olympic sports in general, people start looking at you as if you've suddenly grown a second head :d

Very interesting. Runner of Nigerian heritage passes to runner of Iranian/Moroccan ancestry to white English to runner of Jamaican ancestry and they win gold.

All the racists in Britain went silent.

Horrible result in womens 4x100 relay and mens javelin. The german girls were horribly slow, i expected at least 0.5 seconds faster, hopefully they will get it right next year. The result in womens 3000 m SC was also disgusting, the US is the only nation that is too big to fail and therefore their athletes have nothing to worry about. The progression by Frerichs was probably the most disgusting thing in the history of sports.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

And Brendan Boyce has withdrawn with a grade 1 hamstring tear......

Why, why, why :wall:

I actually went to the morning session, couldn't watch the evening session so I watched the evening session without spoilers, shame for Sir Mo Farah who is our greatest athlete ever and obviously Usain Bolt, but

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I nearly woke up my parents at 3:30am

And Britain First, EDL, UKIP, Shariah Watch, PEGIDA UK, BNP, National Front, all of you lot, fuck you.

All these men are more British than you will ever be

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
