She made the final :mumble: Though she threw better in the qualies (65.64 would bring her bronze).

Yeah, sceptic in me suggests that he actually lied about sickness for 200m heats hoping to conserve energy for the 400m final, but it backfired as there is a real epidemic going on. I think he was the only Botswanian that allegedly got ill? :mumble: That kind of supports this theory.

He said that IAAF barred him from competing without a single examination ;)

I read two athletes from Botswana got sick but I may be wrong.

Onkabetse Nkobolo also got ill http://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1053806/tower-hotel-claim-they-are-not-source-of-sickness-bug-at-world-athletics-championships.

I don't think your theory is correct. IAAF informed teams on August 6 about the 48 hours quarantine. Makwala was examined on August 7 before his 200m heat... at that point he knew there were only two possibilities: 1) Makwala declared fit, meaning he had to run; 2) Makwala quarantined for 48 hours, so no 200m but also no 400m final.

Surely he did not ask voluntarily for the examination to skip the 200m, otherwise by IAAF rules he would have no right to compete in this event.

Sibanda as well according to rumours, but on the other hand, that was only according to crazy Botswanian conspiracists on Twitter who believed IAAF injected Makwala and Sibanda with a virus.

Don't give too much value to the performances of the Americans on their magic tracks :p

Well, if she jumps as well as she did in Belgrade, gold will be hers :d Tho I doubt she'll be able to produce such a level again.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
