Hope :SRI is a reallocated a spot. They have a young talent who almost become wprld youth champ a couple years ago. On their team is also a multiple time Commonwealth Games medalist and a gold medalist from Melbourne.

They are probably the most likely Asian nation to get one (provided that they applied), but there is going to be a lot of competition from the Pacific nations. Almost every single one will apply for a quota and with no athlete in an individual ranking position the competition will be even greater.

It must be super-competitive for a Weightlifting wild card! I expect every eligible oceanian nation other than Vanuatu has probably applied for a wild card.

Hopefully, a few of them can qualify at the continental championships, :SOL Solomon Islands, :PNG Papua New Guinea, :SAM Samoa and :FIJ Fiji have a big chance to qualify on the women's side, along with :AUS Australia and  :NZL New Zealand of course. For the men :NRU Nauru and :KIR Kiribati have good chances to qualify as well.

I decided to see what it would look like if we expand the women's individual qualification to top 15. Currently 9 athletes and 6 new nations would be added to the five already listed. From the total five are from European nations; Azerbaijan (ranked 1), Georgia (13), Latvia (13), Norway (15) and Moldova (15). In Africa Nigeria (7, 14, 15) is pretty much guaranteed to qualify through the team rankings along with Cameroon (10) while Mauritius (15) will have a chance should they send a full team. In Oceania Samoa (10, 13) will be a heavy favourite. In Pan America both Canada (7) and Chile (14) should qualify as well.

So even expanding to the top 15 we have a chance at not filling the seven quotas.

The reallocation process for individual rankings could allow a few of the nations you mentioned above to qualify

Quote
If the athlete qualified through the Individual Qualification the quota place will be reallocated to the next best ranked athlete on the Olympic Qualification Ranking List of 20 June 2016 whose NOC has not yet qualified a quota place. In case of a tie, the NOC which participated in the highest number of qualification events will get the quota place.

It would be good to see a current list of athletes that might qualify through this method

Pretty much. Australia will likely qualify in both the men and women. New Zealand would be on the edge. PNG, Samoa and Fiji will be the top nations in both genders. Kiribati will be the favourite to take the men's quota. The other nations will end up in a fight for wild cards. Cook Islands and Solomon Islands are more likely to get a women's wild card. Marshall Islands too, but I see their chance being less likely. On the men's side Nauru will be the massive favourite (Kiribati too should they fail to qualify). Micronesia will likely be given a spot. After that things get muddied. Tuvalu and Palau's lifter are essentially their most notable athlete while American Samoa and Tonga have a better team on average. Guam and Vanuatu will end up being a non-factor.

This is also ignoring potential wild card athletes from Africa (Libya and Madagascar will be big favourites in the men should they not qualify) and Pan America.

Nicaragua is probably the big favourite for tripartite quota place in women's weightlifting. And I would like to see Marshall Islands getting a wild card, they competed at Worlds last year and had some medals at Pacific Games. On the other hand, Tuvalu and Solomon Islands must get a wild card, otherwise they will compete only in athletics, what would be sad... This is probably the only thing they applied for anyway. Kiribati too if they fail to qualify.

I think it's safe to assume that New Zealand won't be sending weightlifters, even if they do qualify.

New Zealand has always been inconsistent about their standards. They sent a male athlete in 2012. I guess their argument was that their athlete could finish in the top 16 (he finished 14th though there were many DNFs)

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
