Yap, a whole shitload of nations managed to qualify a man, but not a woman. And that is partly because men's qualification race gives lower points by default (due to different cut-off points).

And where is gender equality? IOC should ban FIS quickly by their disrespect to womens.

Sorry, talking about something else, or qualification for distance races in these Championships? Official site says top 10 qualified for the later...

Interesting. Maybe FIS showed some mercy after all and repeached the remaining top 10 W

I don't think so. It is probably just the editor not knowing how it works (or caring, to be honest).

This, probably. Look at Wikipedia for two years ago, it also shows a Q for the whole top-10, it's just some basic template :p

Although there have been rumours about FIS making an exception due to there only being two (!) qualifiers, but I doubt it.

Well, to be fair, the number of quotas for women is still the same as for men; just less NOC's will have female representation.

Number of NOCs is just as important imo. Macedonia for example always has a female skier, and now suddenly they will not.

They literally can't have an athlete even if one of them started winning World Cups next season, just to reiterate how bizarre the qualification system is.

Well, chances there for some new nation to join are next to none. Interval starts are easier by default, while the sprints will have an added difficulty of classic technique.

    • Well, decided (without much advance planning) to attend my first Olympics - and to do my first trip to Europe. Only going for a few days, and got five tickets - women's ice hockey finals (A), short track women's 1500m QF/SF/F and men's 5000m relay finals (A), Aerials mixed team (A), women's ski half pipe finals (B) and women's curling finals (A).   Somewhat regretting my women's curling finals ticket because getting from Livigno Saturday night to Cortina Sunday morning looks to be a massive pain in the butt, but I think I found an itinerary that minimizes the suck. Unfortunately I don't think there is a practical way for me to do my Milan -> Livigno -> Cortina -> Venice itinerary without having a rental car from when I leave Milan.   Flying SEA -> JFK -> MXP on the way there and VCE -> FCO -> FRA -> SEA on the way back (with an overnight layover in FCO, figured it wasn't any more expensive to get a hotel room there than anywhere close to Cortina).
    • Apparently, they didn't enter because of financial reasons.  Info on the Wikipedia page of the event.
    • I am sorry. I know what you're going through. I lost my father in autumn 2023 and his condition deteriorated since spring. He had days when he was not conscient of what was happening to him, followed by normal days of perfection lucidity, when he would talk with you for hours. So basically different problems but still suffering and our struggle to cope seeing him suffer. You gotta be tough and hoping things will better, if they can and that he doesn't suffer much.
    • Just when I thought it was all over after four months of nothing… it happens again. Went back to the hospital literally a couple of minutes ago. Ugh, this is almost as painful for him as it is for me seeing him in this state.

    • With the Group Stage done in the final stop of the Challenger Series season, we know majority of the teams qualified to LA to play for the promotion to the 2025-26 SVNS.     In the Men`s, ,  and  qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between and . The points difference is 2 points in favour of Chile, but Samoa qualified for the SF and Chile not. If the points awarded in this tournament is the same as the rest of the other events (its not clear yet),  will need a 2 position advantage, meaning that if they win one of the two matches they have tomorrow they will go to LA, or if they lose both matches and Chile lose at least one out of the two. In the case Samoa lose both and Chile wins both, there would be a tie (and i dont know the criteria there really).     In the Women`s, ,  and  qualified to the SF so therefore they are also qualified for LA. The 4th spot will be between  and . Colombia has the huge advantage with a 8 points difference. Thailand qualified for the SF. This means that  needs a 4 position difference for a tie and 5 to win. If  wins their first match tomorrow and  not,  qualifies. In case  wins too, the next match of each team is crucial, Thailand needs to win and Colombia to lose.
