FIL looking for new Luge World Cup final venue after event in Beijing postponed
https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1101277/luge-world-cup-beijing-postponed

”The International Luge Federation (FIL) is seeking an alternative venue for its Luge World Cup final after postponing the event in Beijing in February, which had been due to serve as a test event for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Yanqing National Sliding Center had been set to host an international training week for Beijing 2022 before the World Cup final, scheduled to run from February 19 to 21.

In a statement, the FIL said it had postponed the events because of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Tim Singer and luge :cheer:

Shame he is on his own: I always love the “random passer-by co-commentator” aspect of luge.

I'll never understand these Ukrainian/Romanian/Slovak lugers.

Sure, competing at the Olympics is probably nice and all, but collecting 28th and 29th places season, after season, after season, seems dull. :p

Probably a combination of doing what they love and fighting to keep an income :p

Something that would be so much easier with a normal job. :p

It seems to be a running theme in luge. Such athletes usually stay around for one cycle in skeleton/bobsleigh. And luge? One 31st place. Great - three Olympics minimum!

    • I wonder where Romania thinks they got their second quota from then. And no reallocations at all would suggest Germany pulled back their turd, as we'd so eloquently say in Dutch, and did take them all at the end..
    • I asked a Polish journalist on twitter and he said there are no rellocations.
    • She was selected because she had enough good results that could compete in all events but had a little less FIS points than Sawicka, additionaly Sawicka's father was mad of that and he make intervention in our skiing national federation, due to this Komorowska gets very negative comments and she decided to withdraw because she couldnt handle it and said that her mental health is more important than Olympics participation.
    • and now when it is official and they already cnfirmed it, they are so scared that they still did not anounce it to the general public yet
    • Absolute 4D chess from our federation, announcing her when the quota was not available, and now she will actually compete.
