Good to see that the Russians have got Streltsov in their team today, the man who was destined from birth to be a biathlete - Streltsov in Russian means Shooter.

Shoot of the day from Giacomel, there! :cheer::champion:

Meltdown for the ages from Philip Horn :GER!

Pretty decent performance from team Lithuania, but not without blunders.

Karol Dombrovski lost everything in the standing shooting

Vytautas Strolia lost everything in the prone

Tomas Kaukėnas undid his early good work with the penalty

Maksim Fomin, I'm glad that he's here, he ran a very respectable relay, knowing his situation.

17th place is good enough, especially for the Olympic qualification.

13th Place is the best relay result since the sci-fi 9th place from Canmore in February 2019, never been in top 15 since then  So really pleasantly surprised from todays effort. + one quite icredible fact, 0 penalty loops today ! an absolute anomaly..

However good job for the Nations Ranking and especially for the Olympic Qualifiers...assuming they really will count the best 3 relays, we have already a 16th and a 13th places in our count, so would be good to repeat this effort at least once in the future relays or two times to scratch that 16th place lol

Swiss did about what I thought the would do.  Weger was strong, Finello and Wiestner were solid.  Burkhalter just did not have the speed to keep up.

The US was a mixed bag.  They did better than their ranking of 16th.  I do like splitting Nordgren and Doherty.  Brown and Schommer were serviceable.  This was the first relay since Burke and Bailey retired that I felt there was a chance to get in the top 10.  I think one of the amazing things was how Belgium was the only team lapped.

US Women back with Dunklee then Egan.  They tried splitting the two earlier this season with questionable results.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
