You regularly see this in the Olympics.  Gold medal contenders don’t want to show their rivals what lines they are going to take on the Big Day, so in training they shut it down before they get to that tough turn.  Admittedly it is rare for someone to shut It down even before they leave the start gate.

It was kinda entertaining opening season downhill race in Val d´Isere. Corinne Suter the DH crystal globe reigning champion started with a win ahead of Goggia, who very likely lost the win with that mistake in the last part. Breezy Johnson confirmed her results from trainings (1st and 2nd) with 3rd place.

 

Nice and valuable 5 points for Petra in Downhill. Losing only 10 to Bassino in DH is more than OK according the plan
