Apparently the line judge Novak hit yesterday is getting abused by Novak’s fans on social media :wall:

It's a shame that the dominance of the Big 3 (in terms of consecutive GS wins in the last 4 years) will end like this. No matter who wins now, it will be overshadowed by the fact that they didn't beat any of the Big 3.

Although in 10 years, nobody will know and/or care and whoever wins will simply be seen as the 2020 US Open winner.

It's amazing how Sofia Kenin hardly exists for the US tennis public. There is hardly anything for her and she is flying way under the radar for someone who just won a Grand Slam and is the best american player. Guess her introverted profile, mind my own business stuff isn't the tabloid american way. You know everything is about Williams, Osaka, Gauff, even Brady is getting more attention. Regular failure Stephens after her fluke Slam win had 20 brands lined up the next day, while Kenin gets nadda after AO. Guess, if you are not milking the media personality / political speeches you don't exist. It would be sweet, if she beats the Williams/Osaka darlings, if someone else doesn't knock them out beforehand.

She's a Russian born in Moscow with US citizenship. As late as 2019 she was still speaking Russian during the coaching breaks. No way US public & marketing gurus get behind such a player. Anisimova has the same problem. That's why USTA and ESPN hypes Cori Gauff who doesn't have a single trace of Russian DNA. There's a major anti-Russian bias in USA right now so there's absolutely no way Kenin ever becomes the true US #1 in media presence.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
