Some stats about the singles entries.

The athletes which received a FP in the men's singles got it through reallocation, essentially being the next highest ranked athletes. On the women's side three of them actually went to intended athletes; Brazil's Teliana Pereira (hosts), Tunisia's Ons Jabeur (continental) and Italy's Francesca Schiavone (former GS champ).

Also several athlete qualified through protected rankings; Argentina's Juan Monaco and Juan Martin del Potro, Australia's Jordan Thompson and Thanasi Kokkinakis, Chinese Taipei's Lu Yen-Hsun, Poland's Jerzy Janowicz and United States' Brian Baker. On the women's side; China's Peng Shuai, Italy's Karin Knapp and Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva used protected rankings to qualify.
