Everything last year was about politics and corrupt juries, so why would it be any different this year?

Well, I guess my taste has changed... most of the "club" songs are too generic for my taste; don't mean to be disrespectful, they're ok to dance, but not what in my opinion would call a great song. Any AI could replace the singers in most of those entries and sound better. I guess that's what happens when you replace actual instruments and voices for computers and Autotune :(

However, there were some songs I actually enjoyed, either because of the vocals, the lyrics or the interpretation; these are (in no particular order): Bulgaria, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Azerbaijan and Belarus, and contrary to most users in the forum, I just loved the Portuguese song :d

Welp, the shitstorm has begun. Ukraine decides to ban Julia Samoylova from entering the country because of her 2015 visit to Crimea. Honestly, both countries are at fault. Ukraine used a dumb law against her, but at the same time, Russia set themselves up for this issue. That's how I see it. I feel bad for Julia, but if it is, it is.

Personally, since Russia isn't among my qualifiers this year, I could care less.

It definitely started with Russia's fault obviously, thinking it was a wonderful idea to claim another nation's land out of the blue

Ukraine's reaction now is just as bad though, events like the Olympics or a ESC are exactly the kind of events where one should 'forget' this for a moment.

Just like when Austria won and everyone had to be politically correct, costing the real winners the victory :p (alright, it was a decent song like last year's winner, but 'top-5 material', not 'winning material')

That too, Netherlands should have won. There hasn't been a right winner since Denmark in 13. :wall:

About 2014: I would have actually said Norway should have won...the Dutch song was good and I liked it, but the Norwegian song (Silent Storm) was beautiful

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
