Apparently they were riding on a path to the side of the road, which suddenly ended, resulting in them suddenly being in the mud. Because of that they lost the control of their motorbikes and "flew" into the peloton. Reports are saying around 20 riders were hit and 11 are transferred to a hospital. Stig Broeckx (BEL, Lotto-Soudal) is apparently the worst hit rider: some are saying he has been resuscitated and moved to the Aachen hospital by trauma helicopter. I'm doubting he is strong enough to attack again, but yeah, this is quite painful Don't forget though that it's not a matter of just saying "Ah alright, let me get in this break away" and done...it's not that easy By the way, I know Nibali/Chaves/Valverde etc didn't attack yet, but so far Kruijswijk is looking surprisingly strong.
