Someone must have read "How to skate a 10k… and also half a 10k" over the summer.

 

More seriously, these inline speed skating transfers do sometime seem to have huge drops in time. He probably massively improved his technique since last season.

That's a smaller PB than Jilek's, btw

I know the distance races are often for the older guys, but to drop you PB by that much at 29 is impressive (and surprising). Jilek dropped his by 10 seconds earlier, but he's 19. 

 

Sidenote: Didn't realize Bloemen was 39.

Right, season has now started for real: Dutch commentator mentioned Eitrem watching video tapes of old competitions, as he mentions every single time. Just waiting for him to complete it: "Eitrem is a big fan of allround skating and spends 10+ hour flights watching old allround championships."
