The finals of the softball Italian league were on RaiSport literally a few weeks ago. And baseball is as well, including tonight.

If I'm not mistaken, baseball is simulcast on San Marino TV

I know that in :NED it came in via the Caribbean colonies.  But Dutch children in general like to be involved in club and team sports.  Even back in the early 80 you used to see baseball diamonds a lot there, long before the days when it was on TV.

I'm quite disappointed with the quality of :GBR baseball. We had professional leagues up until World War One with the big football clubs of the period entering teams and the in the 1930 we actually beat :USA to become the first amateur world champions. But the last 80 years have been very poor.

But Raisport vs Rai Uno/Rai Due, it`s a different things. On Raisport are broadcasts many niche sports that don't make it onto terrestrial TV (although of course now, in the age of the Internet, terrestrial television is no longer as important as it was 20-30 years ago).

Not sure I'd agree with that - losing to :ESP means the match against :CZE becomes almost a must win match.

Going into the final pool carrying a 1-1 record gives you a solid chance of making it to the Championship Match. Taking a 0-2 record will make that much more difficult. At best, you'd be looking at competing for the bronze medal.

I don't know the rules, but I was also a bit surprised by the relaxed attitude of my Italian colleagues about yestarday defeat... However, it turns out that the defeat against Esp complicates things considerably for us and we have to win against the Czech Republic today... And I remind you that any place outside the top 3 here will be a failure for us and equaling the worst result in the 21st century.

:ITA are still likely to progress to the final pool stage irrespective of the result against :CZE - but it will probably determine which medal you end up competing for.

On the flip side, if you're going to have a poor tournament, it is better that it happens now rather than when Olympic qualification is on the line.

RaiSport is on terrestrial TV, like all Rai channels.

Yeah, in the years of prosperity after WWII so many sports in Britain were either lost or faded away to just regional interest.

I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
