Today sees the opening of the mixed doubles circus, in a format that has the sole aim of killing mixed doubles. Eighths and quarters already today

To be frank, mixed doubles haven't been relevant in over a decade. It was mostly a paycheck for the doubles players (not that there is anything bad about that), but far from the fans and medias attention.

There is potential in this idea, but as usual a sloppy execution. First, it really does need more teams, if not 32, then have 24 at least. After that, don't have it in a random Tuesday-Wednesday. If they really want to make it a big prelude to the start of US Open have it Thursday-Saturday, just before singles start (though i'm sure the big names wouldn't want that). I mean Iga played a final yesterday and she will do 2 matches today and doesn't seem tired at all.

Now it's time for the Alcaraz-Raducanu romance rumours to intensify. :d I'm sure many sites are on speed-dial of their articles.

Nice par but for Carlos it`s probably sweet adventure, nothing more :) Just like for Sinner romance with Kalinskaya.

This is yawn material. They basically copied Tie Break Tens from Indian Wells but are paying more money to the richest players on tour anyway. Exho crap so hopefully Errani & Vavassori actually win this.

Semifinal won easily for :ITA Errani/Vavassori, holders of the mixed doubles and among the only true doubles pairs at the Us Open. In the final they will be up against two pure singles players :NOR :POL Ruud/Swiatek, who resoundingly eliminated what for me were the big favourites of the tournament

Final will be on the classic format with 6 games for winning a set
