  • 3 weeks later...

Ugh, listening to a certain commentary team all year long during the World Cups, and then for the World Championships they aren't there :(

And it's both on HBO, so that shouldn't be the reason..

I felt similarly when watching Sport Climbing at the World Games...just wasn't the same with a different commentator.

Exactly, but at least there one could kind of expect it, since it's usually shown on one thing and then the World Games is just a whole different thing. Here it's both on HBO though..

Absolutely brilliant run for :CAN Jackson Goldstone yesterday, taking a well-deserved first Canadian world downhill title. Based on this year, with his four consecutive wins (and nearly a record 5th), he deserved it more than anyone, no doubt. Silver for Henri Kiefer, bronze for Ronan Dunne, the first ever German and Irish downhill medals among the men.

:AUT Valentina Höll has been fast all year, but hadn't managed to get a win yet since the 2024 world championships...until yesterday, a brilliant run and a 4th consecutive world title  Myriam Nicole and Marine Cabirou adding two more medals to the historically large French downhill medal haul.

Fun little fact: @brunamoura's bosses at her bike shop job here in the Netherlands are at the world championships as the first part of their vacation (they have been involved in Dutch mountainbiking for years, Anne Terpstra was in his team when she was young, for example). They sent Bruna a photo of :BRA Karen Olimpio, asking if she recognized her, which she absolutely did because they raced together a lot in their youth. That led to more and more contact and now Bruna's bosses are the most vocal supporters of the Brazilian team (especially Karen Olimpio and Luiza Cocuzzi) at these championships :d

How the world can be so big, yet so super small

    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
