Football Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

Recommended Posts

Even if there are still a few matches postponed to be played, it's incredible how tight  :POL Extraklasa is this season!

Only 11 points are separating surprising leaders Gornik Zabrze to equally surprising 16th and 1st relegation spot Legia Warszawa!

And not forgetting Poland has 4 teams playing in European groups: Jagiellonia, Rakow, Lech and Legia, so there are not weak teams.

This is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t willing to celebrate Pride then you should simply not come to Seattle. You have to respect local customs.

The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle :p

Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.

Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt :p

Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…

But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position ;)

It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.

Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.

    • The fundamental problem here is the IOC standing firm by a completly arbitrary 2900 athlete cap. A lot of problems would be instantly fixed if we went up to, say, 3500 (and cut cost elsewhere, maybe we can give some less perks to IOC members)   Some of the quota cuts have been good, there was definitively some fat to cut (we did not need 40 men to compete in the men's snowboard half-pipe). But we are getting dangerously close to the muscles and the bones with these cuts, arguably we are already there (figure skating, ski jumpin and nordic combined cuts in particular)
