As is understandable, in her case. Home Olympics (nearly literally in her backyard), it would be nothing but a letdown to do some regular non-special World Cups after that high.

In terms of non-Canadian athletes, off the top of my head, Alpine Skiing: Zrinka Ljutic, Lara Colturi, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, Eduard Hallberg Biathlon: Suvi Minkkinen, Campbell Wright, the Italian team, the Czech team Bobsleigh: Anyone that isn't from Germany Cross-Country Skiing: Anyone that isn't from Norway Freestyle Skiing: Kelly Sildaru Ice Hockey: Finland, Latvia, anyone playing against the US Nordic Combined: Ilkka Herola, Kristjan Ilves Luge: The Latvian team Short Track: Roberts Kruzbergs, the Desmet siblings, Furkan Akar Skeleton: Nicole Rocha Silveira Ski Jumping: Ryoyu Kobayashi, if I wasn't Canadian I would probably also be cheering for Strate Snowboarding: Zoi Sadowski Synnott, the Bulgarian team Speed Skating: Metodej Jilek, Chen Ying-chu, the Polish team, the Kazakh team -

As a Jets fan, I can honestly say that I have never wanted Sam Darnold to win a football game and beat the Pats more than I will in 2 weeks. Although I might need a nap that day since I probably need to be up early for the women's downhill since that could wind up being the most important sporting event of the day for me. -
