A good start to the meet today, hopefully this continues for the rest of the week:

Smith getting a new PB by the looks of it, glad we've got a strong successor to Colbert in that event.

Nowacki and Morgan putting in some good performances and will certainly challenge Peaty and Butler for the two quotas in LA.

Taylor put in a good shift today and could challenge for a medal in tomorrow's final, quite good to have someone challenging Evans alongside Hanlon and also to have someone doing the 50 event.

Kinsman didn't do as well as I thought she would, was hoping she would go sub 60 seconds but didn't even make it through the heats - Ransom did as expected and it's frustrating that we don't have anyone in the 400.

The men's 4x100m Freestyle relay was a bit of a disappointment - the :GBR team were the fastest qualifiers from the heat but could only manage 5th in the final.

I think they were the only team to swam slower in the final than they did in the heats.

Summary of results from this morning:

Theodora Taylor and Skye Carter both qualified for the semi-finals of the 100m Freestyle - Taylor was second fastest qualifier whilst Carter progressed in 16th.

Dean Fearn was the 3rd fastest qualifier for the 100m Butterfly semi-finals.

Edie Price qualified in 7th place for final of 200m Butterfly.

:GBR qualified in 4th place for final of 4x100m mixed medley relay.

Additional action to look forward to this afternoon:

Amelie Blocksidge goes in the fastest heat of the 800m

Theodora Taylor goes in the final of 50m Breast Stroke. She was the 6th fastest qualifier - about 0.2 outside of medal.

Filip Nowacki and Max Morgan both have medal chances in the final of the 100m Breast Stroke

Well, with 2 days left to go, this is already GB's most successful World Jnrs since the event was started back in 2006.

Headlined by Filip Nowacki's genuinely world class performances, obviously, but some very strong swims across the team. Mills, Fearn, Morgan, Taylor and Smith all continue to have an excellent summers. Blythe Kinsman looked off her best earlier in the week in the 100m back but has qualified 2nd fasted for the 50m final tomorrow, so hopefully the earlier problems were just the inevitable consistency problems of youth!

Final total was 3G 7S 5B, so a great week.  This lad Filip Nowacki really looks like our next great star already - I'd say a lock for Junior Sports Personality and could have a real breakthrough at the Commonwealths next year.

A lot of positives from this week albeit with a couple of disappointments. There were quite a few events where there was no GB representative - particularly in the longer freestyle distances.

I know we have issues with the longer distances, but this time we were even struggling at the 200m which has been one of our strengths over the last couple of cycles

    • Honestly, I think you guys have a much better chance of success here than we do. It's already difficult to maintain this sport, and with this ridiculous format this year, things have gotten even worse. Years and years participating in the elite and we haven't been able to evolve; it was just a waste.

    • some changes in the team and less importance to the sport, the two big teams until 2022/2023 ( and ) in south america started to decrease a lot and in the other hand the 3rd in South America () is growing a lot, is really impressive. We are currently the favourites for the LA2028 quota
