She's now the 3rd fastest swimmer so far this year, great to see her continue progressing after just missing out on a medal in this event at Worlds last year.

Caveating the Edinburgh International Meet results - although I am posting the OQT, the only meet that will matter will be the Olympic Trials in April 2028. I'm putting the OQT so that we can see how close (or far) some of our swimmers are from hitting the qualifying time in various scenarios - for example, I'd be surprised if many of the squad had tapered going into this week's meet.

 sent a decent number of swimmers to compete in this weekend's Giant Open. 

 

Jack McMillan was the top qualifier in the prelims of the 400 Freestyle but had to settle for 4th in the final in a time of 3:48.34.

 

Katie Shanahan took the title in the 200m Backstroke in time of 2:09.64. She followed that up with 10th overall in the 50m Backstroke. She'll go in the 100m Backstroke later today having qualified for the final in 6th place. 

 

Duncan Scott was 4th in the final of the 200m Butterfly in time of 1:59.27

 

Angharad Evans' great form continues as she takes the title in the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.46. She followed that up with the title in the 200m Breaststroke in 2:22.02.

 

Adam Peaty finished 4th in the final of the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 1:00.79. He advances to the final of the 50m Breaststroke in 4th place. 

 

Freya Anderson took second in the 200m Freestyle in time of 1:58.91. She then placed 3rd in the final of the 100m in 54.39. 

 

Keanna MacInnes took the title in the 200m Butterfly with 2:08.92. She'll return to the pool later today for the final of the 100m Butterfly, having qualified in 3rd place. She'll be joined by Lucy Grieve in the final. 

 

Jack McMillan won the 200m Freestyle in 1:47.05. Teammate Duncan Scott was 6th in 1:48.76. McMillan will swim again later today, having made the final on the 200m IM.

Aquatics GB swimming championships start tomorrow, qualifier for Commonwealths and Europeans in the summer.

All the sessions are being streamed on the Aquatics GB youtube channel, with the A finals also on the Beeb. 

 

A good first morning.

 

The women's 100 free requiring a 54.82 to make the final is a BIG step forward for that event and also the prospect of them getting a relay team in champs. Last year a 55.7 got you into the final. Prior to these champs only 12 female British swimmers had a PB quicker than that in history. So to get 8 in one morning with a final to come this evening is encouraging. 

 

Obviously the men's 100 breast is another interesting one, with AP going up against the whippersnappers in Morgan and Nowacki.
