  • 2 months later...

New season streams are posted for the weekend if you need to get your schedule organised.  :cheer:

Remember, it's a double bill from Pyeongchang :KOR on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, then a single race from :CHN next weekend. No bobsleigh yet, so I guess they will get double races with no skeleton later in the season.

There were two Asian Cup races on the Pyeongchang track last weekend, and another scheduled for tomorrow, so no excuses for poor performance, everybody should be used to it by now.  :teacher:

World Cup podium for :BRA Nicole Rocha in Pyeongchang :hyper:

Start order made a massive difference, to be fair, even more so in the second run, but still :d

Podium for Silveira! :hyper:

Pity about a race that was a bit ruined by the conditions, nothing sensational but there was a bit of water in the early tractor :(

Not often that people here congratulate sports governing bodies, but the IBSF have really done a good thing for skeleton this month.  Three Asian Cup races and then three World Cup races all in Asia have really brought out all the athletes - 38 in the women's race and 34 in the men's today, great start to the Olympic qualifying campaign.

Lots of medal options. So is this how Canada, Norway and Germany feel when the winter season comes around? :p

It is like :GBR in cycling after the year 2000.  All of a sudden WE were the DDR! :GDR

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
