Arianna Fontana will not take part in the first World Cup stage, but will return in the American stage. This weekend she will take part in the Italian speed skating trials.

Looks like  barely brought a team.

 

500m men - Itzhak de Laat, Daan Kos

500m women - Angel Daleman

 

1000m men - Sjinkie Knegt

1000m women - Diede van Oorschot

 

1500m men - Sven Roes

1500m women - Zoë Deltrap, Angel Daleman, Xandra Velzeboer

 

Only one out of six distances with a regular, full team  (and of course the relays)

Maybe the ISU did read my email. So the first day of the brand new World Tour event the 'Where to Watch' page https://www.isu.org/short-track/media/wtw/ is showing a 404 error. Oh dear.

The new graphics are really beautiful and intuitive. Otherwise, the antics of the nicknames are practically invisible, the NOCs continue to be represented, at least in the morning sessions

Are commentators in your countries using these weird nickname stuff? I hear the English-language commentator in the background (maybe the stadium speaker?) talk about the Latvian Golden Stars and 'Jens van 't Wout of the Dutch Lions' and stuff, but Dutch commentator just says "Kruzbergs of Latvia, Park of South Korea" etc

Graphics seem...fine, I guess. Same as they were, just now it's with some sort of comic style and more focused on being 'flashy' instead of being useful. I guess it's more urban or something.

as usual, there's no Italian commentary, only environmental sound (they say there's also an English speaking audio track, but it's mute, there's the ambient sound also there)
