Biathlon IBU World Cup 2024 - 2025

Yup, very nice to see Finland on the podium after so many years since Makarainen's retirement :)

Thought this would happen, just didn't expect it so soon and kinda leaned more towards the men's team.

On the other hand, it feels like Preuss is one of the unluckiest biathletes of all time. Not to mention the fact that she is sick every season, she might be up there for most 4th and 5th place finishes of all time and I can guarantee that many of them were lost podiums by just a second

Perrot was still a bit worse than Giacomel last year and where is he now? It's a waste of time. And we are so far behind in almost every winter sport that France is outclassing us: all the disciplines of classic skiing, biathlon, men's alpine skiing, etc. And even where we're better, we don't have any chance against other powerhouses, like luge, short-track, speed skating. We can only count on individuals: Ghiotto, Sighel, Goggia, Brignone or Vittozzi, some of whom are over 30. In France there's an effective system and here we're counting on a star like Tomba or Sinner appearing in every sport. Otherwise we can't be competitive anywhere, no matter if it's summer or winter sports. And the winter sports hurt even more because we have the Olympics in Cortina in 1 year :(

Perrot was 11th, a mere 60 points behind Giacomel and he won a race as well.

It was already kinda clear he was aiming to be a world class athlete.

What's stopping Giacomel right now? He's missing targets, just like Ponsiluoma. If they shoot well, they're definitely podium material, so I really don't understand your negativity :p

Vittozzi will not return until the New Year. This definitely means the end of her chances to defend the World Cup. This season has started badly for us and the absence of Vittozzi only intensifies this impression. Only Wierer's improving form is some kind of positive.

Ingrid Tandrevold skips mass start and Hochfilzen due to her heart issues.

I think that in Italy she wouldn't even get the chance to start in the World Cup in her condition. We have much more restrictive regulations than other countries, which has its advantages and disadvantages. In her case, it would probably be better to stop for a while, instead of starting and withdrawing.
