Danila Semerikov will compete for :UZB now and is rumoured to be competing for them at the Asian Winter Games

Talks and rumours going on about the mass start possibly being replaced by an elimination race from 2034 on. Interesting, although if we need to keep having these 'circus events', I'd rather have a marathon instead.

World Record for Metodej Jilek :CZE on the 3.000 meter: 3.34,09 in Heerenveen. What a start of the season for him. If he continues this progress, I fear for the golden ambitions of Eitrem :NOR, Ghiotto  :ITA, Semerunny  :POL and Roest :NED on the 5 and 10 km.

told ya'll more than a year ago

I saw him on the roller skates in the past 2 seasons and man, he's the modern version of Chad Hedrick

if he wants, with time (and some work in the gym) he can become also a great 1500m skater, not only a 5 and 10km specialist

Ghiotto could win everything in the 10km race from 2023 to 2025, and he probably won't win gold at home in Cortina. And if he doesn't win gold, I doubt we'll win anything. I doubt Brignone will return; who's left? Goggia? Unless he gets another injured. I feel very few gold medals for us at home, even in 2022, he already won only two.

We'll see. I don't see us win more than two gold medals. We don't have any dominant people and our biggest stars are old: Fontana, Wierer, Goggia, Fede.

Italy has several very, very good skaters: Ghiotto, Giovannini (mass start), three good men in the team pursuit, Fontana in short track (500/1000), good relayteams and one of my favorite shorttrack speedskaters of all time: Pietro Sighel!! Only on ice I see your country winning already 2 or 3 gold medals. You have to keep hoping for a good outcome, because it's really possible for Italy!

Ghiotto isn't a phenomenon. He made good useed of the time when Nils van der Poel retired and started winning the 10k. However, with the young Czech's explosive form, he will have no chance of winning gold (not the same level of talent, unfortunately). The same goes for Lollobrigida and Giovannini. Fontana is 35 and, in my opinion, it will be difficule for her (maybe some bronze with relay event, but nithing more). Sighel? You're right, but this sport is a lottery and the competition is strong: he could easily win or be eliminated in the quarter after a stupid DQ. We will see.

Wow. Amazing lap times too!

I mean, quite literally everyone saw a record coming from Jilek, one of the biggest talents of the past few decades and that was entirely clear for everyone, but doing it like this already in September....super impressive :d

    • this is not funny at all, pal
    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
