ISU confirmed the countries for the Olympic quotas for the team event. It confirms that Korea and Poland will field entries in 3/4 of the disciplines.

 

Really stupid imo. Either just have the team event with 8 teams or give them the necessary quotas. Imagine running a 4x100m relay but you have to stop after the 3rd runner finishes.

Any news on :UZB quota in pairs?

:NED pair Danilova/Tsiba hasn't fulfilled the national criteria to participate in the Games but their skating federation has sent a request to the national olympic committee for an exception and to include them to the TeamNL. https://www.schaatsen.nl/nieuws/knsb-dient-verzoek-in-voor-olympisch-startbewijs-danilova-tsiba/

Japan just had their nationals and announced their team: https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/news/figure-skating-japan-team-announcement-milano-cortina-2026

 

The Miura/Kihara pair withdrew from nationals due to her dislocated shoulder, but because of their record during GP, they had no trouble being selected, and are definitely in medal contention.

 

As for the women, it was Sakamoto, Chiba, and Nakai who made the cut.  (I was rooting for Nakai...love her Wonderful World routine.)

The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.

Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.

It means that our pair will miss Olympics for sure. But I am happy for your pair. They won it fair and they deserve it. It always sad to see when your own sports bodies destroys dreams.

USA Team Finalized:

Men: Ilia Malinin, Andrew Torgashev, and Maxim Naumov (whose parents were killed along with many other members of the USA Figure Skating community last year on the way home from Nationals)

Women: Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, Isabeau Levito

Pairs: Kam/O'Shea, Chan/Howe (our 1st and 3rd place National pairs each had one non-US citizen)

Dance: Chock/Bates, Carreira/Ponomarenko, Zingas/Kolesnik

      Paschke is completely out of form, so if he were to withdraw on his own, they could make a change for medical reasons? For now, Geiger should be jumping in duets with Hoffman, as Raimund is weaker now.
