Rich 23 Posted August 5 #26 Share Posted August 5 She tried so hard. Frustrating silver. A brilliant race from first to last.
Jon 43 Posted August 5 #27 Share Posted August 5 It’s hard to not be disappointed with Silver - we seem to have been stuck in a rut of almosts and what ifs. Hopefully someone today can change that!
JamDH 44 Posted August 5 #28 Share Posted August 5 I've just noticed there's not much on today.

cjsavory 44 Posted August 5 #30 Share Posted August 5 A bit frustrating, but Germany and France both looked stronger coming in, so Silver is also probably one step higher on the podium than we might have expected. The format of the event a) doesn't necessarily suit our best triathletes as much as it does those from other countries, and b) means that small leads passed on from one team member to the next aren't really worth that much. You get such an advantage from working together, especially on the bike, and as soon as Knibb joined Lindemann it was obvious that the two of them would catch Potter, while also not having to work quite as hard over that last half-lap on the bike. Asking a former 10,000m specialist to beat two slightly fresher athletes over 1,800m was never going to be an easy one.
