Team GB Daily: Day 9

Recommended Posts

She shouldn't have tried to go with Duguma. Left herself too wide and with too little for the home straight.

That being said, did not see some of those other performances coming around her. To run 1:58.01 and come 5th is crazy. She's going to miss the final by one spot.

Keely getting the job done.

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

Eurosport demonstrating this weird new “split screen” magic during the race there.  BBC left goggle-eyed.

In this time of technological wonders, let us also give praise to the Olympic system that can identify the difference between Lyles and Thompson down to thousandths of a second, but relies of the eyesight of judges to work out if shooters hit their targets or not.

Le sigh.

Or indeed is unable to tell whether race walkers are keeping continual contact with the ground.

    • But it seems to us that Norway wasn't as strong in Lillehammer 1994 as it was later? And not just in women's events. Generally, until 2000, Norway was much weaker in women's biathlon and women`s cross-country skiing. I remember in the 1990s, Italy's biggest rivals, Belmondo and di Centa, were Russia, when Norway somewhere further back and only in the classic style. Bente Martinsen- Skari, this is their first really strong girl in cross country, just about 2000, just like Liv Grete Skielbreid- Pioree in women`s biathlon at similar times.   Do you think, that is there any hope that thanks to the popularity of Haaland and football in general in Norway in recent years, winter sports such as biathlon or cross-country skiing will lose a little bit, becouse that?

    • This suggestion  @Dnl  made some months ago has also been implemented.   In each club, I have added a "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" record which takes the content from the Qualification by Nation tracker of that NOC.   People who see it can not edit the content, but it will be automatically updated once @Matej will update the record, and if you notice any mistake feel free to report it to Matej or in the record itself.   Club's admins can now edit the name of the section into their own language or change the spelling, I have used "Milano Cortina 2026 Qualification Tracker" for all the clubs. To do so, go inside the section, then click on "Manage Club"-"Edit this database Record" and change the name of the section:     By the way, if you are not a club's admin but you would like to edit things inside the club just let me know and I will give you the rights to do so. There can be more "admins" inside the club with the rights to edit and organize the sections, and that's not a role that require time or commitment.   Let's try to make all the clubs active during MiCo and when the LA28 qualifications will start!
