Speaking of Archery...less than 30 mins now till the first Paris 2024 session with British participants! LFG Penny, Bryony and Megan!

Ranking round should give us at least a bit of a clue to whether the British women will be involved at the sharp end of things next week.

Believe the 7 extra ES Channels pop-up tomorrow on Sky & Virgin. To resume - 4 of them will be dedicated to the big fortnight long team sports & three others will be divided up as need be with the shorter-running sports like archery, canoe slalom, badminton etc etc.

They already on Virgin.

It looks as though GB, despite a poor ranking round, should avoid korea china and india until the semi's, hopefully that's the nerves out of the system

That was pretty rough. Hopefully the men do a bit better and get us into the mixed team. I don't know enough to actually say how likely this is. We are six behind :TPE who have strong men but maybe some other teams will weaken. A good performance should be enough anyway

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

I'm hopeful given we have 3 athletes whilst lots of the teams around us have just one, although that didn't really help for the women.

At the 2023 Worlds, Penny Healey was 5th in the Ranking round with a score of 664 - today she was 52nd with a score of 631. Can only imagine that's nerves, which is not exactly surprising for a 19yo at her first Olympics!

In this sport, for whatever reason, 10 and 11 are kind of the seeding sweet spot - you avoid Korea till the final, and most of the big guns until the semi or quarter - there is a route to bronze in this set up that doesn't require beating one of the big two asian giants, albeit a very very long shot

Bt GER bt MEX lose CHN Bt IND
